Reputable Dealer(s) for Dinosaur Fossils

Looking for a reputable dealers in the fossil trade. Want to get my son a nice dinosaur fossil as part of a high school graduation gift. I don't trust anything I see on EBay.

Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks!

Bill

I can't provide a dealer of full fossils, but a cool smaller gift (companion gift?) is from Santa Fe Stoneworks. They sell mammoth and dinosaur knives. I bought my wife a dino bone letter opener, and for myself I bought a wooly mammoth damascus steel knife. I got these when I completed my MA in US History. They're wonderfully done. Surprisingly my wife loved her gift!

Just avoid those with the "Made in China" stickers...

Have you tried contacting a natural history museum? Maybe the Field Museum in Chicago or the Denver Natural History Museum. I've been to both in the past three years and they had extensive dino exhibits. I'm sure they could put you on the right path, if they can't help you directly.

The online shop of the University of Oxford's Natural History Museum has some fossil items for sale. Can't get better provenance than that.

I was there and it's my favorite museum. Lewis Carroll, who lived in Oxford, frequently visited it.

Heritage has nature and science auctions that frequently feature some pretty cool fossils.

Actually, there's one going on right now. Ends on the 9th.

My mom grew up on a farm in southern MN and her brothers found lots of arrowheads and tools made by Native Americans, but these have to be fake. How could a dinosaur or mammoth make a knife?
