Howe’s Hunter 04-25-2021 08:27 PM

Yes, I just saw it.

And it’s a new one. Had no idea it existed.

Crap.

Shoeless Moe 04-25-2021 08:49 PM

Ladies and gentleman I'd like to nominate this as worst start to a thread 2021.

That’s funny.

No, just a card that fits my strange collection that will sell in about seven days for a lot of money.

autograf 04-26-2021 06:52 AM

Which card?

ocjack 04-26-2021 08:49 AM

Rare blank front/blank backed green Cobb.

ALR-bishop 04-26-2021 09:26 AM

I think it is the Howe that he’s been hunting

JollyElm 04-26-2021 03:47 PM

If you're into Multiverse theory, then it is posited that somewhere out there exists a ten-dimensional world where a T206 Cobb front comes with nine other 'backs' that are all, indeed, Cobb backs. The theoretical 'NonaCobbCobb' card is definitely on my wish list.

Snapolit1 04-26-2021 04:47 PM

Whoomp there it is.

Tao_Moko 04-26-2021 05:59 PM

Congratulations. Thanks for sharing the details.

HercDriver 04-26-2021 07:02 PM

Hmmmm

If I had some bacon, I’d have some bacon and eggs, if I had some eggs.

My thoughts exactly! Good luck Ed!

Tao_Moko 04-27-2021 07:36 PM

In all seriousness. Good luck. I haven't come across it so excited to see which one it is.

+1 We're rooting for ya Ed.

Howe’s Hunter 05-02-2021 02:52 PM

And I’m out ...

Thanks for the well wishes and all the heads-up I got when the card first hit eBay last week. Like I’ve always said, I know I won’t get them all, don’t even have a way of knowing what they all were. But now I’ve got some good scans of a card I didn’t know existed before, and can add that to the database.

I do really appreciate the messages when you all see a card with Howe’s stamp on the back. Without the help of the members of Net54, the collection wouldn’t be where it is today.

Thanks again. Stay safe and stay well.

Ed

Any chance we can see a picture of the card Ed?

Dang! Sorry man.

judsonhamlin 05-02-2021 06:36 PM

For those of us rooting you on, what was the card? I just looked at about to end and completed T206 listings and couldn’t make the connection.

Howe’s Hunter 05-02-2021 09:03 PM

Now that it is over, here is the listing ...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-11-Hin....m46890.l49286

Didn’t know this one existed until last Sunday, but now have good scans to add to the database.

Again, thanks to everyone who gives me a heads-up when they see one of Howe’s cards. Please continue to let me know when you see them.

Take care and stay well.

BRoberts 05-03-2021 04:31 PM

Looking at the listing, you'd think Leland's would have enough class to update the blurb about their founder. Too much to ask, it appears.

Steve D 05-03-2021 08:03 PM

Ed,

Were you able to pick up the Frank Baker on ebay last month?

Steve

Howe’s Hunter 05-03-2021 10:49 PM

Yes, Steve

Do you know anything about Howe? Was curious about the possible back story. Feel free to link another thread. I did a quick search but no joy.

Howe’s Hunter 05-04-2021 11:34 PM

John, you’ll probably regret asking ...

Here are links starting with the first time I mentioned Howe and all the misinformation I had at the time ...

Thanks for the fascinating read. I greatly enjoyed reading through those links and the T206 article(s). Called my wife at work to tell her about this. She commented that it sounds like something you would do. I also dabble in genealogy and I wondered if you had gone down that route. It looks like great fun.

obiwan1129 05-05-2021 10:45 AM

In fact, I wonder if Leon would let you put up a sticky with those links.

Did the card sell for that much because the brown Hindu back of him is scarce or did it sell for that much because someone / some people were being pricks and jacking up the price on the OP?

I don't think so there were 6 bidders over $400 one at $492 and 2 over $500.
