Harold Doc Martin-Early Negro baseball pioneer Photo

I hope everyone is well and healthy. I am thrilled to have picked up an early image of Martin with the 1916 Norwich Academy baseball team of Vermont in RMY last night. Martins story is quite impressive! First African American to attend the academy and was a star on the baseball, football and hockey team. He also was involved in many clubs and studied electrical engineering. He served in the First World War and was killed during service in WW2 in an airplane crash.
I have looked and looked and this is the only image I have ever seen of Harold Martin playing the game of baseball. Has anyone ever come across a sports image of him? Thanks! |
Can we see it?

Thanks Doug!

That's a great pickup! Congrats!

Thanks
Thanks Doug and Paul! In my opinion it was one of the most important photos in the auction.

Great pickup and very interesting history |
Bump….
Has anyone ever seen another image of Martin in a baseball uniform?
…thought I’d bump it one more time. Thanks again! |
