Hi Mike,
These all look good to me. :)

bender07 08-23-2020 03:08 PM

Foxx looks off. Maybe secretarial. Others look great

It is my opinion that they’re all good. The Foxx is a little funky, but there are many other similarities and he had so many variations. I like it

vthobby 08-23-2020 10:52 PM

Thanks!

Thank you Jason and others for the last minute advice. TBH there are approx 80 GPCs in all with 3 Ott's, 2 Kleins, Teddy Ballgame, those you see here and many more.
I'm sure there is a chance that some might be signed by secretary, ball boy, or clubhouse manager etc.... but there are plenty of lesser names so I'm feeling good overall. Most date from 1941, have a return address and are clean so I'm pretty excited! Will update Tuesday! :)

Peace, Mike

Really nice- congrats! Would love to see who else was in the collection.

vthobby 10-16-2020 09:07 PM

Sweet!

Sent 3 more to PSA. Based on how much they charge, I'm being selective and paying for Express hence the amazingly quick turnaround! The DiMaggio was postmarked the same month that his 56 Game hitting streak ended in 1941! They got these 3 on 10/12 and shipped them back today!

Wow!
Cert # Item Primary Subject Result/Grade
1 84262167 Government Postcard Joe DiMaggio MINT 9
2 84262168 Government Postcard Connie Mack MINT 9
3 84262169 Government Postcard Mel Ott MINT+ 9.5

The Ott was also signed by Hubbell!

Peace, Mike

Thank you, it is so smooth! Signed during late July 1941 in the middle of his second hitting streak that summer! Would have been cool if it had been during the 56 game streak but pretty close! His writing style shows how relaxed he was.

Thanks!

Peace, Mike

Very nice. Are you planning on sending in the Wagner? Curious about that one.

vthobby 10-27-2020 12:06 PM

Thanks!

Wagner went to my buddy, don't think he is sending it in. It was a fun collection! Thanks!

Congrats on great pick ups and successes with PSA- what else did you pick up in this collection that you have not shared?

vthobby 10-27-2020 08:05 PM

30 or so more...

About 30 or so more GPCs from common players to stars to multi signed but the photos I posted are all the better ones! They are all cool tbh! :)

Thanks! Mike

The Foxx is interesting. he did vary a bunch and some that I think are OK have failed PSA. Not sure on that one. others superb, congrats

David Atkatz 04-05-2021 12:17 AM

Sending to PSA. What a waste of money.
(And if you want the best in archival preservation for those GPCs, you won't leave them in those cases. It's what the BBHOF does when they receive slabbed cards as gifts--bust 'em out of the cases.)

packs 04-06-2021 11:16 AM

Don't think it'll be a waste of money after you collect your auction winnings. Is there any doubt authentication brings a higher price?

Could it be that these two pieces possibly went to different graders?

I too, would never slab these unless it was just to sell. Still don't see why people would want/pay more for them slabbed, but guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I think it's reasonable for people to want a TPG opinion. It's supposed to be impartial.
