JJK Copy Art Jackie Robinson back?

I have always been under the impression that this is a postcard. My version has the “photo post card” back as do the other PSA graded examples I’ve seen. However I just watched this copy end on eBay well above what I would have expected a sale to be, and the back is blank:

Is this a variation in not aware of? Or is one type not authentic?

All real jjk copyart say so on the back

Thanks what I thought, so the one linked above would appear to be a copy? I’m shocked at what it went for (much more than my raw copy was in April) so I thought maybe this was some kind of more desirable type

I've had a blank back for decades. I do not believe it is a copy.

it appears to me to be a mail reply card for fan mail. I have a few different JR fan mail cards.

Interesting, and given the condition and relative cheapness of this issue — especially prior to last year — I wouldn’t expect an older copy, let alone one in that shape. Thanks for sharing.

I do assume, given that the same photo is used for Old Gold, if the blank back is something entirely different and not necessarily a JJK Copyart issue.

That would by my assumption too. The fact that the same dugout pose was used for at least three different purposes suggests that the image was not exclusive to one company but was licensed (or just pirated) for multiple uses.

I got mine on eBay so long ago that I paid for it with a check. It was $25 including shipping. I seriously doubt anyone would fake something that cheap in crap condition.

I am not surprised that the oddball early cards and card-like paper collectibles of JR are rising given how the mainstream issues skyrocketed. IMO he is one of the most significant figures of 20th century America, so if the Topps and Bowman products are out of reach, you downshift to something else so you can have a career-contemporary JR card. Finding one of the early JR items for sale nowadays is a challenge. I haven't seen this 1949 All Star Photo Pack for sale in a while:

I purchased one early this year, or late last year, and mine also has a blank back.

Imo, and expertise, which is a far cry from most on here, I also don't think it is a reprint or a copy.

There's a Jackie Robinson thread in this section that has images of a great many interesting items. Good index of what's out there.
