Am I just asking for trouble?

Posted By: paul
I just picked up this very nice N172 Dave Orr. I always crack cards out of their holders when they're for my personal collection (despite what I just said in the "I guess grading does make a difference" thread). But I'm a little worried about this one. On the bottom edge, the lower half of the copyright information is missing because the card is off center. And the bottom edge is perfectly straight, with corners so sharp that they do not look 115 years old.

If I crack it out of its holder and decide one day to get it regraded in order to sell it, do you think there's a risk it will be rejected as trimmed? (I scanned this thing at 600 dpi and it still shows up fuzzy. Hopefully you can use your imagination.)

Posted By: Rick
depends on the value on the card.

This type of dilema is where a service like the one GAI does where they give a second opinion makes a lot of sense.

Its probably overkill but its nice to know that two major grading companies agree that the card is good.

I have never seen it done , but i believe they will leave the card in its previous holder and then offer a second opinion.

It makes sense for cards that for whatever reason look suspicious.

I dont know if they put the card into a bag of some sort with a tamper proof seal or how it goes.
