Not sure if anyone other than me has a Mickey Haslin autograph collection. He started in 1933 with the Phillies.

I'd bet that no one has a better collection of Haslin signatures.

Haslin was a notorious non-signer (at least through the mail) from 1970 (and maybe earlier) til his death in 2002. "Jim" must have gone to see him, to get a photo and 2 index cards. Finding a cut of him from a playing-era autograph album is what you'll usually find on him, but a 3x5 is tough.

Well my sister did at his bar one night.

I tried and tried over the years but I could never get lucky enough to see or meet him. My sister said that she was going to go there and I said, well here is a photo and some 3x5's...maybe if you see him in the bar? She said she would try.

So, she went one night and he was sitting at a table. She ran to the car, got the photo and a few 3x5's. She asked if he could sign the photo for her brother. According to her, he was a bit apprehensive and nervous. After talking to him, he said, "I wish I could practice before signing the photo.

She put 2 3x5's down on the table and said, "You can practice on these if you want!" Well, he did. Then he signed the photo. I remember her telling me his son wasn't too happy about it all but nothing he could really do.

This was in the late 1990's...'98 or so.
