After seeing the thread about the Sovereign pack it got me thinking; have any of you actually pulled a t206 card directly out of its pack? Especially within the past 5 years. I would love to see a scan of the card or a picture of the pack.

Awesome question! Or has anyone even heard of someone doing this, or have a story to tell. Interesting...

I have not...but I do remember unopened Piedmont packs being sold many years ago...probably 20-25 yrs ago for like 8-9K a piece. I'm sure somebody on here knows somebody...who knows somebody...who has?!

There is pictorial of an Otto Knabe being pulled from a pack on the T206 Museum site. I recall two Piedmont packs opened in Cincinnati around 1986ish but no further details.

I remember when Alan Hagar had unopened packs. I wouldn't touch any of them because of his background.

I believe Ted Z has, although he mostly stood outside the stores and asked customers with new packs in their hand for the card. That was back when kids could buy cigs, the good ole days!

The couple of stories I have heard about guys pulling cards out, they were submitted and did not get strong grades. Thus, the price they paid for the unopened pack, the juice was definitely not worth the squeeze....

It never is, Kevin!

A collector-friend of mine has done it once (probably about 15 years ago). To the best of my recollection the result was a common that was roughly in Ex shape.

Best,
Scott

Great idea for a topic, Jason. I will look forward to reading everybody's responses.

I started thinking about this again, so hopefully no one minds a bump. If anyone has a story or a picture (or a video? :) ) please share!

You got guy.

:) It was fun being a 10-year old "hustling" adults to give me the T206's they removed from their Piedmont packs :)

Seriously though, if I remember correctly a T206 card was pulled from pack some years ago....and, it was Armbruster.

I couldn't imagine any card pulled from a pack after 100+ years would yield a mint or NM grade, even if PSA was the TPG. ;)
