The judge said afterwords, "I forgot to kiss the bride, and I'm sorry."

The marriage didn't last a year.

Dave
Posted By: jay behrens
I was lucky enough to be invited to go to dinner with a good friend, some other people and DiMaggio. I was told that I was not allowed to ask Joe any questions about Marilyn or he was most likely get up and leave. I said that would not be a problem as I wanted hear about his baseball days and could care less about Marilyn. Was a very interesting and memerable dinner.

Jay

Posted By: runscott
Such actions are described as resulting from his being a private person, but celebrities have the good fortune of beling forgiven such behavior. If you or I got up from the table when asked about our ex-wives, we would not be considered "private people" - we would instead be considered "pricks".

While it's true that only a dumbass would ask him about Monroe under such circumstances, a more appropriate response from him would be to smile and say "I don't really want to talk about that, but feel free to ask me about baseball or anything else."

I'm not going to get into a battle of wits with you - you can do that in some other forum. We're just trying to have fun here and discuss vintage baseball. But if this helps your ego: You are the wit-meister and your "hurt your feelings, guess you can't handle it, and Lad" comments were incredible displays worthy only of a master of the keyboard such as yourself. Now can we move on?

Posted By: runscott
Joe P - if you want a debate forum, I'm sure there are plenty of them out there. If you want to ignore my previous post and just blather on for the sake of attempting to "win" a debate, go for it - no one's going to try and stop you.

Personally, this is a perfect example of why I think we need sign-ins for this type of forum - someone like Joe P who has no interest in vintage cards, and simply wants to stir up ****, would have to do it elsewhere.
