I’ll start it with this , IMO, really nice color pencil work of the great Clemente

I picked up this lithograph at a local antique shop. It pictures Fulton NY circa late 1850s- mid 1860s, and includes perhaps the earliest scene of a baseball game on a lithograph. The only other example I know of was in a Hunt Auction in 2018. This example has been in a storage unit for many years and the store owner never realized the scene included baseball content. The lithograph is trimmed on the bottom and on the left, but the baseball scene is untouched.

WOW Gary!!! Besides bats my other hobby interest is early sports art. I remember seeing this in Hunt's auction. It is also the only other one I have ever seen. Unbelievable that you would find something like that in an antique store. Like I told Carlton Hendricks a few years ago and he often likes to repeat "the only thing we find around here in antique stores are velvet Elvis's and tube socks". Great find.

Very, super nice find. You could hang that anywhere, in just about anyone's collection, in any room, and it would be a remarkable piece.

I'm not sure whether this will mean much to others, but for me this is a really, really big deal.

Throughout WWII, there were baseball games played in the bases such as Norfolk, VA, and in the Pacific as a way to entertain the troops. In Europe, this was not really possible until after the war ended.

Once the war ended, a tournament was held. The World Series was held in Nuremberg, Germany, with Hilter's complex visible in the background.

The series was notable for another reason in that one of the teams was integrated and featured future HOF's Leon Day and Willard Brown.

This is a program from that series.

I don't know how many copies exist, but since I started collecting WWII baseball items, I have only seen one other.

It's the kind of program that is far outside of what most people collect. But for me, it's a centerpiece of my collection.

Jeff- Great find. Interestingly, I'm just finishing the book "The Victory Season" which, as you may know, is about the 1946 baseball season. The book describes the game you mention in your post.

Thank you! Yup, that's a great book! I hadn't remembered them discussing this series though, so going to pull it off the shelf and take another look.

Harvey Haddix Pirates locker plate at Milwaukee
 

I found a neat complimentary piece for my Harvey Haddix mini-collection.
Here is a Harvey Haddix early 1960's locker plate that came out of the collection of the former trainer for the Milwaukee Braves. The fact that the locker plate has Old Milwaukee as the sponsor was too good to pass up because of Haddix's link to Milwaukee's County Stadium.

On May 26th, 1959 @ Milwaukee Pirates pitcher Harvey Haddix pitched what was arguably one of the greatest games of all-time. He hurled over 12 innings of perfect ball before giving up his 1st hit and ultimately losing the game in the 13th inning.

That's a great mini collection you have there Scott. It really looks like it displays well together.

So I just got this back from my friend, artist Gregg Packer. I had seen some real nice art gloves done by Sean Keane around. He does great work but they are fairly pricey. I had in mind what I wanted and Gregg managed to hit it out of the park for me. Hope you like it also...

So this bat was in found in a wall in a house which was built in 1919 and was remodeled about 25 years ago or so...don't really know how it got there but I am happy to add it to my collection....It is a YMCA model and has a hand turned knob...probably dates from either 1917 or 1918..

That is terrific. It's a Joe Jackson model that survived the Great War. Does it match any of his identified bats' length and weight?

Thanks Mark. The bat is a little lighter than it probably should be maybe just from it being over 100 years old. Here is a picture of the knob end which I like very much...

like the teams stats and stadium diagrams. There's a few interesting articles such as:

It also includes the International League and PCL schedules.

Picked up Henry "Nick" Cullop March 1925 photo in recent RMY sale. Somewhat enthusiastically described as in NYAL uni, but he is wearing a Yankee hat. They acquired him after 1924 season and he went to spring training but Yankees shipped him out (likely without going to the expense of giving him a uniform). Looks like he was there for a photo shoot. He ended up playing 2 games in 1926 and that was it. Just for fun, also included is the real Nick Cullop as 1916-17 Yankee.

Hal Chase game used. The only pre-1920/ playing days bat I've seen from him.

I thought my bat buying days were over but apparently not. :)

Interesting name, a Lichtenberg figure is the treeing caused by an electrical charge. You see it in photographs of lightning where there is all the branching as it appears to approach the ground.

Hey guys, I just picked up this Roy Campanella old timers day bat about a week ago. Glad to add it to my collection.

Not a bad pickup for $20. 1960s Adirondack Mantle index bat.

1916 White Soxs & Unknown Player
 

Went in with another member on a group of photos and rppcs. Very nice photos from 1916 White Sox spring training with Ray Schalk, Eddie Collins and an unknown player/person. One larger photo and some smaller photos of the same unknown player that looks like a few years later.

Very nice! Gregg Packer created an art ball for me a few years ago and it came out great at a reasonable price. I didn't know he did gloves as well.
