Pujols 700!
So glad I stayed up to watch this! What a class guy. To me he is #3 all time now.
Hit 699 and 700 tonight. Wonder what the fan who got the ball will do with it? If he doesn't trade it fro stuff how much would that ball be worth? |
Took me a while to find the game on Apple TV, but I've got it on. Good for him, well deserved.
Now I hope the Dodgers rally FTW. |
Me too on both points!

thought it was 700

So pleased to see a classy, good guy make it to #700.
|
Pujols has 62 homers against the Astros. If that sounds like a record, it is, Aaron is 2nd with 46, and McCovey is 3rd with 44.
Great player. With the universal DH, he could keep playing next year. |
Not a Cardinals fan at all, but Pujols is the best right handed hitter since Aaron. Delighted for him.
|
...so much for a rally. Now 10-0, Pujols gets credit for five RBIs along with the HRs. Just a few more and he'll catch up to Aaron.
|
I like the guy...but man has everyone been throwing him meatballs the last 2 months...a la Denny McLain to Mickey Mantle style...wish he had gotten there a little differently. Think this may have had to do with people making sure he landed in front of AROD? WHo the Yanks paid like $30M not to hit 700 for them because they despised him by that point for the double roids foul...interesting take I think...TBC

Pujols #700
Every post deserves a card--Pujols first baseball card
|
Interesting take. I wasn't thinking that way, that the Dodgers are classy, and gave it to him. I don't think Verlander would have given him anything good to hit.
I heard the fan ran off with the 700 ball, hoping to negotiate, but Pujols told the media he doesn't want the ball. Awesome. |
HOLY SHIT!!!! So f@#$% awesome!!!! Love Pujols. Absolutely incredible ending to the greatest career hitter of my lifetime.

Everyone wins. The fan can contact PSA/Goldin. I just thought it was funny that Pujols said, "keep it."
|
Wow great game for him doing it on a 2 homer night and able to retire with 700 or more.
Class act |

Congrats Albert! |
congrats to albert...quite the accomplishment!

Nice to see Albert finding another gear and finishing his career strong in St. Louis. He hasn't been an above replacement player in quite some time now.

Beautiful call by the announcer Wayne Randazzo. Didn’t have some canned schtick he was waiting to do. Nice call and then was quiet.
I shutter to think what phony contrived BS Michael Kay and John Sterling have pre-rehearsed for weeks for Judge’s big moment. I detest announcers who make the call about themselves. |

!Felicidades, Alberto!

It funny to think about, statistically speaking, Pujols is the worst member of the 700 Home Run club, if such a designation exists!
All things aside, it's been a joy to watch him play. Really didn't think anyone else was going to hit this milestone, for a long time. |

Many of us won't see another guy get there. To hit 700, you have to be at around 400 by the time you turn 30. No current player is anywhere even remotely close to that trajectory.
Only 28 players in the history of the game have ever hit 500. Trout and Stanton are the likely next contenders for that milestone, but that will take them into the twilight of their careers. To hit 200 more than that is really staggering. Good for him. |
# 3 all time in RBIs with outside chance of # 2
