PSA Opinion?? New eBay Feature???

I decided to look at one of my listings because I switched over to eBay's Manage Payments today.

As I was looking at the listing, I saw this link added to my listing.

Get a PSA Authenticator's opinion. When did eBay start advertising grading companies on listings without the Seller's approval. It pisses me off. Do any other Sellers have the same link?

BTW, here is where the link will take you: https://www.psacard.com/quickopinion/ebay

See photo.

You are using their platform if they choose to do this it’s up to them. Don’t like it sell
Somewhere else.

I know it's their platform. I am also paying a fair amount of fees for over 15 years. It would be nice if they let you know what they plan on doing. What's next? Political advertisements?

Jim65 10-26-2020 06:45 AM

It could actually help the seller too.

Nice marketing by PSA. Ebay does what they want and when they want. As Glynn said, their sandbox their rules.
They change like the wind. I Haven't sold there in lots of years but buy on there almost daily.

This came from the bay a few years back....

Nice card, Leon. Never saw this before.

That has been there for a long time, can't believe you just noticed it.

That's a really neat piece.

In my mind, I see Leon at his desk with a huge stack of unique and fun cards next to him for the sole purpose of adding images of them to threads because "every thread needs a card." And I thank him for that!

I'm guessing you listed an unauthenticated autograph. PSA has been doing Quick Opinions listed on eBay for maybe two years now.

I have seen it on many many items that are not autographed. Not sure why it is there because I have never clicked on the link.

swarmee 10-26-2020 03:46 PM

It's because eBay is putting it there. I'm guessing PSA gives them some kind of kickback for product placement.

RL 10-26-2020 03:55 PM

I just looked at a few listings. did not see the psa advert on any of the listings.

Were they listed in an autograph category or had keyword spamming? The service is only for autograph authentication. Which is worth $10 until you realize it's the company that certifies autos that are spelled wrong, like Loretta Swift and Jacyln Smith.

I have 3 things bookmarked so I checked them.

SGC graded T210 with no autograph Has PSA ad
Modern refractor with no autograph Has PSA ad
Modern autographed card No PSA ad

swarmee 10-26-2020 05:22 PM

Odd; seems like they need better software at eBay.

frankrizzo29 10-26-2020 06:10 PM

Psa

They'll give you a credit for that $10 fee towards grading, but they don't tell you it'll take 6 months to get it back from grading

Buythatcard 10-26-2020 07:25 PM

I went back to look at a few of my listings. I found the link on my raw card listings as well as listings that have a SGC graded card. The listings that had a PSA graded card did not have the link.

Only looked at about 8 listings. I am assuming that if the listing is not a PSA graded card, then the link will appear.

Buythatcard 10-26-2020 07:28 PM

Also noticed that the link appears in my scorecard & World Series program listings.

Good luck trying to get those graded.

swarmee 10-26-2020 07:45 PM

But as I said, it's not for grading, it's only for autograph quickopinions.

John,

You are correct. I didn't look at the link carefully.

Still don't think that eBay should plug PSA on Seller's items without some sort of notification.

I am not selling autographs but still have the link on multiple items. Atleast, they should get it right by placing on the correct listings.

Leon's is a display. There's also a PC from the same event:

Taub was a NY men's clothier, big star-fu***, er, star-chaser, who did a number of display pieces with baseball players and other athletes he dressed and/or entertained. Here is an 8 x 10 premium from another event:
