The ball was officially sold on Sunday on its 19th bid for exactly $166,818.

A baseball signed by the 32nd President Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first to ever surpass a six-figure sum when it was auctioned off back in 2020. The previous record for a JFK signed baseball was $47,800 which was sold back in 2013.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. Seems like new records are being broken each month for collectibles of all kinds.

That ball was unique - I loved the story of the photomatch of the signed ball in the 1961 newspaper clipping. I'm sure that piece of information drove the price much higher than it otherwise would have been. Fantastic piece.

Don’t want to hijack your thread, but it would be cool to see other signed baseballs by political figures.

I wonder what the William Howard Taft ball, which inaugurated the tradition of the presidential opening toss in 1910, would go for today? Or the Walter Johnson collection of signed baseballs by Presidents Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover from opening games in D.C. in which Johnson was a participant.
