1930 World Cup Cards

2 Attachment(s)
There is a set of 1930 World Cup Strip cards. My understanding is this set was released in Uruguay for the 1930 World cup. I'm pretty sure they were strip cards released in one long vertical strip. I've always thought they were awesome because there aren't many cards released in Uruguay for the 1930 WC.

I just noticed that I have two variations of these 1930 World Cup Strip Cards. My Nasazzi and Andrade both have fonts with caps and lower case, while the Tejera is all caps. Also, the Tejera has a slight thinner card stock.

I am wondering which variation others have of cards from this set? If you have any are they all upper or upper and lower case? Please show pictures of what you have so we can compare.

Also, I remember seeing an uncut panel on eBay ~5 years ago and I think it had text or writing on back. Can anyone confirm that these cards exist with either an ad or info about the 1930 WC on back, or am I just mis-remembering?

Lastly, if anyone has other 1930 WC cards, I'd love to see them as well, just to keep the thread alive.

World Cup cards

Nice cards... you wont find any 1930's world cup cards from England as our first entry into this prestigious competition was 1950 during which we managed to lose (somehow) 1-0 to the USA...but we did reach the quarter finals in 54 I think losing to Uruguay. I hope you can track down some more of those illusive cards 1930 strip cards which I guess are all players from the host nations or ?

1930 World Cup Strips--Uruguay Team

Here are 2 World Cup Strips of the 1930 Uruguay Team. This is one of the few times I have seen them in what (I assume) is a complete strip. There are 6 cards in each strip (11 players and the team picture). This may be all that was printed for the team as the first strip includes Andrade and Nasazzi and the 2nd strip contains Pedro Cea. Additionally, I did not notice any variations and the backs are all blank.
Great post and certainly something that needs a little more research...

That is a cool strip of cards!!!!

Your Tejera is not all uppercase, as opposed to the example of the Tejera which I have that is all uppercase. So it seems there are at least two variations of this set out there.

I really dont have anything else to compare it to but i have seen the individual cards from time to time. Not sure that the variations mean anything at all to be honest. I got this from a seller in South America (might have been Uruguay) about 8-10 years ago. Unfortunately, due to the language barrier it was difficult for us just to complete the transaction so i wasnt able to get any amplifying information.
