When is someone going to give the White Sox some love?

Posted By: tbob
Personally, I hate 'em, but if my Twins were doing what the ChiSox are doing and all the talking heads and media types were talking Yankees, Red Sox, Cards, Dodgers and Orioles, I'd be furious.

Posted By: john/z28jd
When someone responds to a thread started by a board regular with "who cares" they really dont deserve a response, but since tbob already did,If you dont care Al then dont bother responding. Obviously other people on here care about present day baseball,so obviously people care.Dont be a jerk for no reason, especially not to tbob, and try adding something to the board once in awhile or dont respond at all.

Bob,i dont think anyone believes that the White Sox can keep it up and theyre just waiting for them to break down.Their team to a man is very unimpressive especially once you get past Buerhle and Garcia. They got rid of a TON of run production from last year and dont have Frank Thomas in the lineup. They arent great defensively and their bullpens names dont scare anyone. Its really unfathomable that they are this good and i didnt pick them to finish higher than 3rd and changed that to 4th when they said Buerhle would miss 6 weeks with his imaginary foot injury. When he didnt miss a start,i put them back at finishing 3rd just above Detroit

Posted By: al davis
tbob: since when does caring about the 2005 white sox have anything to do with "tradition and legacy"? and why does the plight of a current team belong on a vintage board? on the other hand, in about fifty years it might be a worthy topic for a vintage board, so, perhaps you are just ahead of your time.

Unless Al Davis is really Al Davis then you need to put your name behind your comments. regards

Posted By: jay behrens
Read an interesting fact about the Pale Hose tonight. They have had the lead in every single game they have played this year. That's impressive, but like many others, I doubt they can keep this up.

Jay

I like to sit outside drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home I would be arrested, so I go to baseball games and fit right in.

Posted By: Julie
sure know how to do it.....fade....here's hoping it will be different this time. If there's one team that I think may have been long-term psychologically affected by the past,it's not the Red Sox, it's the White Sox.

When is someone going to give the White Sox some love?

Posted By: Josh A.
and see a thread about my Sox!!
I have been a lifelong fan (albeit only 27 yrs), and this is the first time since '94 that I have been really excited about this team. While Julie is correct, and the Sox do tend to fade towards August, I really believe Ozzie has this team geared up, inspired, and fundamentally sound. No August swoon this year!
The Sox will not get any national attention until they make the pennant. Even then, the media will still talk about the Red Sox and Yanks. The bottom line, is that the White Sox haven't deserved the respect yet, due to their annual swoon. But this year is different, I am excited about this team. Clutch hitting, fantastic pitching, and speed.

And to name a few more players for the posters who are not familiar with this team: (caution, there are no catchy nicknames like "Big Six", "Three Fingered" or "The Babe" on this team. Just a rag tag bunch of old-time ball players) Paul Konerko, Joe Crede, Aaron Rowand, Jermaine Dye, Mark Buerhle, Dustan Hermanson, Tadahito Iguchi, Scott Podsednick, just to name a few. Stay tuned, because these kids can play.
Thanks for starting this thread.

"I'm thinking about getting a plasma T.V., in case I need a transfusion."- Steven Wright

Posted By: qualitycards.com
Plain & simple - When they go to the Playoffs.
The Red Sox were forever dubbed the "Loveable Losers"
each year finding ways to blow it.
They they won it all last year and got instant respect.
So perhaps the response should be...When they win the World Series!

I hope they are for real, its good to see a winning team in Chicago.
Thats good for baseball.

Posted By: john/z28jd
It really is amazing a town could have 2 teams not win a world series for the last 87 seasons.I used to like the White Sox when they had Carlton Fisk, now i really dont care but i wouldnt mind seeing one of the Chicago teams winning it soon.Maybe Sox will win this year and Cubs next year and that will end all the really long "curses"

Posted By: dennis
i found it rather strange that all the baseball experts at espn picked detroit and clevland to challenge minnestota and really did not even consider the sox at all.if crede, uribe and rowland were on the red sox we would here gammons tell us what a great young trio of players they have.i'm glad to see that a twins fan(tbob)actually hates the sox! that is respect.
