1963 Clemente. Crack open or leave it as is...?
Need advice guys.
I asked about this on Blowout. Figured I'd get some older guys/vintage veterans to help me out. Bought this from my shop today for 200. Thought I'd take a chance on it. Came from a seller who sold a collection of Clemente cards. Measures correctly No crease No print dots Sharp corners Not restored Etc... Worth more in this stupid slab or should I crack it out and keep raw? https://i.postimg.cc/jSwdjjPD/20190708-133240.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/BQvndpvc/20190708-133323.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/zXPG5hbm/20190708-141038.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/mkm2PzmH/20190708-141055.jpg Thanks everyone. |
< 9 out of 10 PRO holders have something funky going on.
If you are going to the national, I will look at it for you. |
Wasn't Gary affiliated with PRO?

I would crack it. Long ago I purchased a '63 Stargell RC off Ebay. It was graded by some company named CSA as a NM-MT 8 in a slab that looked eerily similar to PSA. It is a really nice card that is dead centered but I was always suspicious of it but got it for a great price so left it in there. I recently decided to crack it and submit to PSA. I measured it and it looked OK to me but I would not have been surprised if PSA rejected it. To my pleasant surprise it came back as a ExMt 6. I would do the same for yours. It is a liability being in that PRO holder.

and received higher grades from all 3 companies. PRO...not so much. |
Crack it. It's probably a $200 raw card, even if it doesn't get the same grade. If you send it in to a TPG, you can set a minimum grade and if it doesn't get there, you'll get it back raw. It's a nice looking card, congrats!

leave it
Id leave it,and crack it later on

Thanks guys...
I left it as is and made a 20 dollar profit lol |
I wouldn’t buy a card graded outside the big 3 in a shop probably.
