Kaneen's 1989 Perez-Steele "Celebration" Signed Set
Here are scans of my 1989 Perez-Steele "Celebration" Post Card complete signed set. The set features the artwork of famed sports artist, Dick Perez, and depicts Hall of Famers on 44 numbered cards. There is also 1 unnumbered check list, making a total of 45 cards in the set. The boxed presentation set was released in 1989 to "celebrate" the 50th anniversary of the Baseball Hall of Fame. 3 of the included players passed away during the set's production, so only 41 of the 44 numbered HOF cards were possible to be signed. Those 41 possible signed cards are all pictured in the posts below, as well as the check list card signed by the artist, Dick Perez.
I always enjoy looking at pictures of other great collections on the board, and I hope you enjoy these as well. Wow, how long did that take you and how. Mail, in person or combo

Nice collection!

Looks great. I am making a set of custom 1961 Fleer type signed hall of famers using autographs cut out of other cards or scraps. You could easily do that for the three you are missing (though it is sort of cheating I suppose).
I would put in an example, but I have never figured out how to share from IPhoto other than via email. |

I have seen those. One difference is that I usually see pretty ragged cuts in most of those, though I saw a relatively nice Ashburn Great Moments that tempted me because of how neat the cut was.
The three you need lend the selves to neat cuts because relatively cheap autos are available. I am happy to show you some of mine, but would need to email. |
Kevin, very nice signatures on a good looking set. I had started that set back in the day, but never finished it. Still lacking Campy, Ted, Jocko and Sewall.
Don't know why I never got a Sewell as he was easy TTM back in the day. I'm thinking that I didn't start the set until later in 1990, after he had passed. Thanks for sharing, good to see all those together. Tom |
Updated Berra Photo
Thanks to a very generous gift from a fellow member of another site where I had also posted my signed set, I was able to upgrade my only black sharpie signed card! I updated the photos above with the new addition of card #6 - Yogi Berra. Now all my set cards are signed in matching blue sharpie, and they look amazing. A huge "Thank You" to Don M!
