How Do You Spot a Fake LeBron James Rookie Card
2 Attachment(s)
I sell mostly vintage sports cards. When it comes to more modern cards, I am still learning my way around.
I recently had a consignor send me a LeBron James 2003 Topps Rookie Card. I have read that there have been quite a few reprints circulating around. So, I am trying to determine whether I have the real deal here. It is also a graded card. It is graded by a company called GEM Grading Inc. I know that their reputation is not good. This puts more doubt in my mind regarding this card. I included the scan of the front and back of this card. I know its tough to tell by a scan but what should I be looking for to determine whether this is Authentic or not. Don't make any judgement just because it has been graded by GEM. I am reluctant to list this card because of my concerns. What are your thoughts? If you think that it is fake, please tell me why. |
Probably a question better submitted to some of the basketball experts on their forum on Blowout. PM Deadshot maybe?

It's almost certainly either trimmed or fake. No other reason that a Lebron Topps RC makes it into one of these slabs. I wouldn't take it if I were you.
