I found a few cards in my basement.

Hello. I found a T206 collection in my basement and came here to share them with you. I have no idea how much they are worth or what I am going to do with them. Just looking for some information. I will take photos of the backs tomorrow. Thanks!

Link to photos

Edit: As you can see there are 10 pics of the front and 11 pics of the back. When I took the photos of the fronts I guess I missed one of the pages (the one with Doyle). I was able to get a pic of the back (pic #11) but at the time I took the pics of the backs I didnt know I had missed a pic of the front. I dont have the cards with me so I wont be able to get a pic of the front tonght. Sorry!

You've got a few thousand dollars worth of cards there, assuming that the backs are not totally destroyed. The green Cobb is the most valuable, followed by the Young and the Mathewsons.

Any idea who collected these? Were they in the plastic pages when you found them, or did you put them there?

AddieJoss 09-14-2016 10:04 PM

Could you post pics of the backs...you will get a lot more info that way.

Great find in your basement! I would sell individually on EBay or consign them to an EBay dealer like PWCC (member of this board). If you sell as a group you will get wholesale pricing most likely as that person would break it up. The only thing I would find in my basement is unopened wax from the 80s and a bunch of auction catalogs!

Will take photos of the backs tomorrow. Just curious, why?

Sean 09-14-2016 10:21 PM

A rare back will greatly increase the value of the card.

By the way, I didn't see a scan of the Doyle. Is there one and I missed it?

Certain backs can increase the value of a card significantly. Conversely, major back damage makes a card less valuable.

That would be crazy! Too crazy, if it was that Doyle, N.Y. Natl.

If you got a "Joe Doyle" NY Natl with a Red Hindu
back. You can quit your job. Post both side of
The card....,, we are curious

Very interesting. Congrats. Would love to hear more about this find. How were they stored? How long do you think they were there? How is it they went unfound for so long? Who do you think they belonged to?

Do you have any experience with card collecting or this set? You seem to have some experience given the way you listed the cards, knew to scan the backs and fronts, and knew to highlight the green Cobb (in front of a T222 Fatima – is that a reprint or real?) and the Young. Best of Luck! Very cool find.

steve B 09-15-2016 06:09 AM

And who's on the Fatima card?

And what other cards were there?

pretty cool find.

You found those in ur basement in card sleeves? Got to believe someone is going to be looking for those.

RedsFan1941 09-15-2016 06:24 AM

I think Love For The Game Auctions specializes in major finds like this. You might contact them if you decide to sell.

That all depends on if any have a blue Old Mill or green Sweet Caporal back.

jb217676 09-15-2016 06:34 AM

How did you just find these cards in your basement, I don't understand.

emd023 09-15-2016 06:46 AM

Hi Everyone. I am at work, so I am sorry for the short response. I will try ro answer everyones questions when I get home. The cards were like this when I found them. According to my father, my grandfather was in posession of a Wagner card. You guys know who he is right? Again, ill provide more detail later today!

Edit: just to clarify, my father said he had the card but gave it away to a friend a long time ago. Also, I will make sure to take pictures of the backs later today.

Edit 2: Asking if you knew who Wagner is was a JOKE. Yes, i know you know who Wagner is...

Thank goodness the cards were found in the basement, because if he had said "in the attic" I would be skeptical.

This looks like it is the same list provided to me in a scam I fell for about 4 or 5 years ago. I sent Western Union money to someone with this list and never heard back. I actually believe I made a post about it on the forums a long time ago. I am not 100% sure, but I am relatively sure...

Name @ bottom of post.

TCMA 09-15-2016 09:51 AM

Woah, woah, what is fishy? What can I do to prove they are real?

emd023 09-15-2016 10:17 AM

Ok, it seems my last post has made everyone skeptical of whether or not these are real. Once I get home and provide more detail it will clear everything up. If I can do something to prove they are real I will. Thanks

We are looking forward to it. Just be aware that everybody on here is very skeptical of a great find like this until proven otherwise. You will have EVERYBODY'S attention and you will get great information as well as being flooded with offers through private messaging after you have been vetted. You will also have a few knuckleheads that will beat you over the head no matter what comes of this so have some thick skin when they chime in. If these are on the up and up, you've come to the right place as there are more experts on this board than you will find anywhere else. If they are stolen or if this is a scam, you will get grilled.

No, no I don't. Who is he?

Simple suggestion:

With your first card sleeve in the picture, the lower right hand card sleeve is empty. Write "emd023" on it with a sharpie, slap the entire page on top of your local newspaper just under the date. Take that picture and post it. That will take care of many concerns. The only thing left is: do you legally own them.

He does have a scan of the Fatima card, the last scan in the album. It's Vic Saier. (See link below.) You have to click "Load 5 more pictures" at the bottom in order to see all of the pictures, which a lot of people are apparently not doing.

Jobu 09-15-2016 12:11 PM

Seriously though, it would be fun if this checks out. To the OP, people come on this board frequently (not to mention Ebay, Craigslist, etc) and try to scam collectors so we have a knee-jerk reaction to big finds by new people. Here's hoping that you have something good!
