Posted By: Ted Zanidakis
PAUL S

I have all 72 cards with, and without the Bowman trademark. It was not easy to find them. And, for some unexplainable
reason the 36 cards in the #181-216 group are tougher than the higher # group....without the trademark.

When I collected these as a kid, they all had the trademark. Some years back I acquired a complete set in Cooperstown
and about 60 cards had no trademark.

TED Z

Posted By: sagard
I love this set. Here it is:

http://209.180.22.162/1950bowman/1950.html

I actually prefer it to the '51 Bowman set because I didn't have to fork out the cash for Mantle. Doing one set per decade for now this seemed like a perfect fit for me.

Posted By: Paul S
Way to go, Sagard! (Looks like we have another "raw and
naked" collector in our midst...<- "midst", strange word
there, maybe I'm turning into Bruce!) Did you collect
the whole set ungraded or break some out of holders?
Posted By: sagard
Thanks for the comments. I bought the set as is. Occasionally I think about grading some of the cards, but then I'd want to start selling them and currently I'm happy to own them. The Doby (top right fourth sheet) is my favorite and Dodgers with Newcombe/Reese/Robinson (sheet 2) are pretty cool too.

The set is somewhat affordable - less popular to the masses due to missing Mays, Mantle, and Dimaggio. I'm collecting those guys in other sets and this set really is just what I was looking for from the '50s.

Posted By: Jason L
acquiring the Campy, Berra, Jackson and Doby someday...those are my faves from this issue...I agree, the Doby (along with same image in the '51) is one of the nicest card images of the 1950s!
