If anyone wishes to forego the auction and donate directly, that is awesome! Just edit your post and I'll let this auction ride.

The responses to this low-value item are overwhelming. Steve will hear about this when the dust settles.

We've had dozens of neighboring firefighters and cops covering our town so the duty crews can attend. Steve and Lisa has indicated, it helps the family to know, Nick belongs to all of US as well.

Just learned yesterday, a fellow Marine corporal on detail with X, from Oneida NY, was also killed in the blast. I believe his remains returns home today. Any of you New Yorkers have a link please?

Gotta head out to catch a bus. This is the final day of protocol. Cpl X will be laid to rest this AM at the Nat'l Cemetary in Bourne.

Be safe, Steve

Heh, I think this auction is still on. My brain hurts!

Big thanks to the folks that have sent dough to the 'X' fund already. I spoke to the PD dispatcher, Janey at YPD and she reports, as of yesterday they've rec'd $7500 thus far!

At this rate... We may be able to help a few kids with tuition next semester.

Funeral mass at St George's., Honored from a ridgeline., Procession arrives at the Nat'l cemetary, Bourne Mass. (Shot at approx 1000-1200 hrs today);

Steve,

I think this may be the link your looking for.....

Thanks for the link. Unlike Nick, who is single. This guy was married with a kid... I believe there is a fund being setup for this Marine's kid's education.

Xs best friend Cpl Coville, who was assigned 40 kliks north of Nick's sector was flown home briefly to attend the funeral. I'll paraphrase/condense his eulogy, 'Things are improving, we're killin' far more of them and I cant wait to return to my unit next week and get back to work!'

Gotta love these damn, crazy kids. Gives me hope. Steve

When 2/8 was in Iraq in 2007, I was with a EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Security team and we went out to a few IED calls made by 2/8. On my first deployment in 2006, I was attached to 8th Marines for MARSOC missions. Now that im out and I am currently a student, I don't have money I can donate, but I would love to send some stuff in to you so you can sell and raise funds.

I had the contest on the PSA board for my 500th post, and one of the winners requested I send the item to you. I do not have your address anymore, so please PM it to me.

Semper Fi,

Mark

It's a good feeling to be out and free, but deep down I wish I would have re enlisted and would be there and have my brothers backs. My old unit is there and I have a few buddies who stayed in, and if anything happened to them I couldn't think of how much guilt I would have.

Im now in the IRR, and could get recalled, which sometimes deep down, I wish I would. I have my first IRR muster this Saturday, and look forward to hearing what might happen. Until then, im gonna collect cards and memorabilia!
