Any ideas on this Tunney stamp?
I recently picked up this stamp that I believe depicts the Dempsey-Tunney fight from 1927. Nothing identifies the maker although it resembles baseball stamps produced in Germany from a decade or so before.

Yes, it's from Germany. Usually comes as part of a larger sheet of about 25 stamps depicting the Dempsey/Tunney fight.
Full sheets might sell in the $50-60 range or so. Sometimes you can even find them as part of a display with several sheets attatched. |
OK, thanks for the info D. Bergin. Is the date of issue 1927?

They are rather difficult to find. I cannot state a reliable price on them since I haven't seen any for sale in a while. I like the two two-panel stamps--neat idea. Here is a full sheet:

Adam,
Thanks for the offer, however boxing is not my primary focus. I just picked it up off e-bay because it was cheap (99 cents) as the seller misspelled Tunney in the description. The sheet you posted is a great piece, thanks for sharing. Mike |
