Long Time...No See

We thought it would be fun, and informative, to ask each Board member to list the three cards that have been on his/her want list for the longest period of time.

As most of you know, we collect high grade rare type cards- so here is our list

Texas Tommy (Grade 5 or better)
T 209- Color ( Grade 7 or better)
Williams E 103 ( Grade 5 or better)

And just for good measure

1958 Topps PSA 8 or PSA 9 Ryan Duren

Looking forward to hearing what's on your list

3 cards that will probably remain on this list for a long time because of scarcity and the premium they carry:

1 - Rose Co Postcard Rube Waddell
2 - E107 (Type 1 or 2) Rube Waddell
3 - T206 Brown Hindu (Portrait or Throwing) Rube Waddell

Honorable mention (and more attainable):

E91C Johnson

HOF RCs I don't have - Mantle, Mays, Paige, J Robinson, Clemente, Koufax to name a few

rholmes 08-12-2010 08:38 AM

Excellent thread.

I've always been a set collector, and, as such, don't have three specific cards to list. But, I love reading everyone else's wants.

I am trying to decide which direction to go next for a new set.

HRBAKER 08-12-2010 10:01 AM

Where are you?

1. Monarch Typewriter PC of Baker or Collins or Plank
2. Bregstone PC - a common will do :D, common right
3. '23-'24 Jim Bottomley Exhibit

Harford20 08-12-2010 10:01 AM

These have been at the top of my Wish List for more than a decade now:

1. 1939 Goudey R303-A Ted Williams
2. T206 Frank Chance Yellow Port rare backs (i.e. AB, Broad Leaf, CB, Drum)
3. T215 Red Cross Tobacco or T215 Pirate Cigarettes Frank Chance

Have been very unlucky catching these, and will likely be on my list another decade from now.

My honorable mention was noted above: American Beauty T205 Matty (but low grade).

ullmandds 08-12-2010 10:03 AM

e97 s.nichols, phil variation
e94 murray violet
t214 victory...any in presentable condition.

M's_Fan 08-12-2010 10:09 AM

My list doesn't have any really rare cards, but for one reason or another they have eluded me for some time:

T206 Marquard throwing SGC 60 +
T206 Wheat SGC 60 +
N162 Andrews SGC 30 +

kkkkandp 08-12-2010 10:29 AM

My New Top Three

Having recently knocked off quite a few (some of which were so old they were moldy) these are my current top three wants:

N172 Buster Hoover
N172 Taylor Shafer
N172 Jake Wells

With any luck I'll eventually find the first one, but the other two will likely just become moldier, I'm afraid! :(

Peter_Spaeth 08-12-2010 10:49 AM

From VCP the Duren does not look that rare?

E107 Cy Young: Someone on this or the FC board has a gorgeous SGC 10 (Jealousy factor)

M101-4/5 Babe Ruth: (Money factor)

T207 JP Bushelman: This card has been available but only in big lots with other scarcities from the set. There was a mutilated 10/1 on ebay sometime last year that I thought was below my condition standards that is looking pretty good now :) (Take the plunge factor)
