Fantastic Collection Found!!!! Pre-War Scan Heavy
Hey Guys!
So about 2 years ago my friends uncle died, :( But my friend happened to inherit his modest baseball card collection. 2 years ago he told me to come over to his house to tell him if the cards were worth anything, and I can't tell you the amount of times I have been disappointed with binders of 1991 score, but needless to say this was different. There are only a few boxes but the cards blew my mind! I helped him grade and sell a few a couple of years ago but now I am helping him with the more expensive items and I included a few scans for your viewing pleasure :) Other Highlights not scanned: 1952 Berk Ross Complete Set - The Mantle graded 5.5 1963 Topps Complete Set - Missing the Rose RC 7 1968 Topps Action Stickers Complete Sheets - W/ 3 Clementes, 2 Mays and a Mantle Several Complete bazooka boxes - 1962 clemente, 1963 clemente, 1963 Koufax About 50 more HOF tobacco cards not shown below! http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...oFront0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...noBack0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...Frojnt0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...rtBack0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...nFront0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...onBack0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...oulder0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...Goudey0001.jpg I'll be posting more photos through out the night! |

Not much post war, other than the bazooka, 63 Topps and 52 Berk Ross but here are some Post-War Highlights from the collection.
I had some berk ross graded last year to introduce him to grading and to show him the differences between grades and the importance of PSA. lol http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...ieMays0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...ossSet0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...ieMays0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...Koufax0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...sAlvis0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...dFront0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...rdBack0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...Ticket0001.jpg http://i966.photobucket.com/albums/a...0/IMG_0865.jpg |

Nice to see the cards now :) I couldnt get them to load on the PSA board with my super slowwww jungle wifi.
Anyone figure out what the printing plates are for? looks like 2 dif sizes... Love the T216-2 Plank, E286 Bender, and R306 Foxx :) and that E90-1 Joss is a toughy in the set too. |
Don't know what the plates were for, they look to be Mule Haas (maybe) and Rube Marquard.
|
Good thing Leon expanded an individual's PM capacity this week.

Also, does anyone know anything about the Mack ticket? Lastly, yes, the cards will be sold. I still need to look through them and organize them but I do intend on selling everything. Items that need to be graded willl be sent out within the next few weeks and everything else will be listed on ebay or consigned sometime soon. Thanks, Jason |
A great Find.
Ya, No matter what backs go with what cards, they are all beautiful! Super Find. The kind I've been trying to find all of my life:p

FYI to the original poster, those pics take up a lot of bandwidth because of all the black background that should be cropped out.

Apparently, it's time to upgrade to Pro. Cool stuff while the photos lasted.

I love that Moline ticket...Connie Mack owned all of the Athletics minor league clubs. I have two similar tickets for Lincoln Athletics games in 1948.

I FIXED THE PICTURES!!!! YAY
WOW, sweet ticket. I would love to know what these fetch. I might just keep the one I have lol. |
I got one of my tickets at a local auction and paid about $70 for it..I found the other on ebay and paid about $50 for it. Until I saw yours today I was fairly certain that the Lincoln club had made these special tickets, but now I think the Philadelphia club probably had these made and sent them down to their minor league clubs.

absolutely phenomenal!!!!
thanks for sharing. the tannehill red cross has me captivated. best, barry |
On the scarcer "type" cards (nonT206/Goudey), you may want to consider SGC when you get them graded
Especially the R306, T215, T216 group, E286, etc. Just a thought... |
More cards found
Sorry for bringing the thread back. the first three scans are cards that I found last night while looking through some more boxes and the scans after are just more cards I figure i'd scan :)

I'd love to know how collections like this one are assembled. Was this person the original owner? I wonder what he saw in Harry Gaspar.

Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
Sorry for bringing back an old topic but I still receive emails about the status of the cards. I realized I was in over my head so I sent the nicer cards off to Goodwin. The auction ends February 11th [L=Link]http://www.goodwinandco.com/default.aspx[/L]. This is the first time I have consigned an item to an auction house so hopefully they do well and sorry for hyping up my cards on the boards.
