My Louisville 1898 Team Photo from Guide. Reach or Spalding?
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone I won this about a month or so ago on ebay and I was wondering if it came from the 1899 Reach guide or the 1899 Spalding guide. It looks more like the format for the reach guide but I do not know for sure. I bought the 1899 team photo on ebay from a 1900 guide and paid about 15.00 dollars for it. This photo however cost me about $50.00 I was surprised by this a bit considering it was taken from a damaged guide but I guess it just takes two people who want it to drive up the price. I love the photo as it has dummy hoy in it and Wagner in his first full season. Info is always appreciated.

Edited - never mind. I had a couple of photographs mixed up.
Here's the Louisville photo from the 1898 Spalding Guide, if that helps. http://runscott.homestead.com/Photos/1898Lou.jpg |
Thanks for the post
Thanks for the post. I would love to snag that photo down the road also. I am pretty sure it is a reach photo but I figured someone on the board would know. The back side of this photo is a photo of the 1898 New York team.

The 1898 Louisville photo is on page 32 of the 1899 Spalding Guide.

Those team photos are from two different years, I think that yours is a Spalding photo. I had one at one time but sold it last year.

Thanks Guys
Thanks for the info guys.

I have a copy of the 1899 Reach guide and the photo is not in there.

Reach perhaps
It looks like the pic format for the reach guide so it may have come from a 1899 reach guide instead of the spalding guide from 1899.

I already posted where the photo came from. Why are people still guessing?

I'm going to guess what Barry said is correct, as I've really never known him to be wrong. Have a great weekend!!! |
Thanks Barry
I think people get locked in on the question and debate and sometimes totally miss it! LOL
Thanks for the help Tony |
