Which Cards Look Best In Which Holders?

This is not meant to continue the PSA vs. SGC debate but simply as a fun (and perhaps helpful) exercise: Chose a few, or many, popular vintage issues and declare which holder they LOOK better in. We're not talking pricing issues or which company is likely to give a better grade but just (subjectively) which holder displays the card best. For example, in my view, Ramlys look much better in SGC because PSA uses a baggy. On the other hand, T207s look better in PSA because the dark color blends in too much with the dark SGC holders.

And so on. Let's see your picks and comments!

Just based on sets I've done or am working on, I feel that almost all pre-war issues tend to look better in the SGC holders. They're almost like little framed pieces of artwork. I bought a partial set of 1933 DeLongs a couple years ago, all in GAI holders, and even they looked way better than the DeLongs I had already purchased in PSA holders.

However, I do agree that darker cards such as T207s tend to look better in PSA holders. I have completed a T200 Fatima raw set and if I get it graded I will likely use PSA because of the darkness of the set.

The post-war sets that I'm doing look a little better in PSA holders: 1955 Topps All-American, 1970 Kelloggs baseball and football, 1977 Topps cloth stickers, etc.

The Mayos are almost a tossup: SGC makes the dark cards look even darker but PSA uses a baggy. I avoid baggys at almost all cost.

I think all red cards like Cracker Jacks look a lot better in PSA holders. T3's too, not a huge fan of the SGC over-sized holder.

Probably all black/white/sepia issues look better in SGC.

I'm in agreement with Jeff. That being said though any PSA slab that has their infamous baggy inside looks like $@#%.......

Some issues there's no great option. PSA uses baggy for Tattoo Orbits--but SGS for some reason mounts them way too low. I should add that I obtain cards mainly on aesthetic appeal.

I think most cards look better in SGC, except maybe Mayo's - the black on black is a bit much and the card gets lost. JMO

E107's look better in SGC holder. I like Old Judges also in SGC.

Goudey 1933 and 1934 fine in PSA -- because of larger size, border is not so important.

Sgc needs to go to a white insert for dark bordered cards. Have a nice 50 Drake's that looks really crappy with the black insert. I'll bet 71 topps look bad also.
