Are 70's unopened wax packs safe to buy or are there problems in the hobby? I am a new BB collector. I placed this thread in the early vintage section by mistake, so am putting it here also. I want to buy some 1970's unopened wax packs but I wonder if people open these, replace any goodies they find & re-seal them. Is this a problem in the hobby & what I should I look for?? Thanks |

I suggest buying Mark Murhpy's Unopened Pack Guide. It tells you how to identify tampered packs (i.e. roller marks, corner folds, etc). I don't know if it's in print any longer though. |

I'd only suggest buying from BBCE/Steve Hart. He sells plenty of non-graded stuff that he inspects first. I've pulled many, many gems out of those including a '75 Yount RC that graded a 9. |

Buying packs I make no recommendations on who or who not to buy packs from, but Murphy's book ( I am not recommending him as a seller of packs), is very informative and well illustrated . If you do decide to get into packs, it is worth having. |
