Football Gear: Any clues
 

Anyone know what this is? And who was Lee Dempsey, can't find anything about him, also are they worth anything? Thanks

Dempsey was an early pro football player. Played for the Rock Island Independants.

Also played baseball with the Giants, Casey Stengall was his roommate.

Not a good player so he went on to be an umpire

Any idea about value on these helmets? Is there a way to get the black one to stay opened.

The red Hutch helmet is about $50 - $75. Very common and most likely a child's/youth helmet.

The Wilson helmet is a little nicer and a clear picture of the inside lining can determine value a little better, but it looks like it is in pretty rough shape. Value on this helmet would be about $150 - $175 if it cleans up nice.

I would get a thick wood dowel and place it inside the helmet from earhole to earhole and let it sit like that for a while, that might help it stay open if you leave the dowel in there for a couple of months.
