Dan Brouthers Auto - Opinions ?

1 Attachment(s)
I've had this Brouthers auto for years but have never sent it in for an expert to verify . Any opinions ? I haven't seen many Brouthers autos therefore I'd value any opinions. Thanks Mike

Where to begin? Suffice it to say it's no good.

Looks like a Coach's Corner piece of garbage.

I know nothing about what his auto looks like. But what i see is a nice clear auto with no other writing nearby and perfect paper. I've signed my name 1,000's of times and i can't imagine it ever looking this fresh and pristine and secluded. And it's supposed to be 100 years old?

Thanks for your opinions and comments. Could someone post a real auto of Brouthers for comparison ? Must be a big difference between this one and the real thing. Thanks Mike

All of the feathering on your signature means that it was signed recently. Old signatures on old paper don't feather like that. New signatures on old paper do.

Would be happy to assist with your request IN DETAIL if you will assist with mine

I am asked often for opinions regarding autographs, Being an autograph dealer for over three decades ......and I have always done so for free to my customers and friends.

However there is still a dire emergency existing in the Northeast as the result of Hurricane SANDY. The media has moved on to other events but the problem remains. So for those of you that would like opinions regarding autographs I would respectfully request that a $20.00 donation be made to the AMERICAN RED CROSS that is helping to put the lives back together of those that have been destroyed. Here is the link. Make a donation and send me as many scans as you would like , $20.00 Per autograph. It does NOT go in my pocket This offer is good until December 1st..Cheers

Feathering does sometimes happen on legitimate older items, but not standard paper that was intended for signing (letters etc). However if a person was signing something thick like a cardboard mount for a cabinet photo or thick scrapbook paper ink would sometimes feather when it was signed 100+ years ago. In 99% of the cases where you see feathering on old documents, run the other way BUT sometimes (especially with blue ink which is higher in water content than black) it would feather.

Feathering is caused by the paper drying out and sucking up the newly applied moisture too quickly, but poorly made or thick paper would feather 100 years ago too from time to time.
