Opening up an unopened 1962 Topps pack - video

2 Attachment(s)
I had several collectors tell me they wanted to see the opening of the pack so here it is. My grandson got a kick out if it. I've had the pack for about 15 years. No stars, gum was broken in to pieces and obviously un chewable. The cards, all first series commons, are beautiful. No regrets.

Having trouble uploading the video, will keep trying.
Well, I sent it successfully from iphone via messages and even email but can't get it to upload here. Sorry. The cards are all first series. It's a condition sensitive set but the corners are all razor sharp. The top card is probably exmt-nrmt but the others all appear nm-mint with nice centering.

I was able to scan a couple of screen shots

Maybe post it to YouTube, Bob, and then post the link here. Just an idea! :)

Are you going to open up the pack of Marlburos and find tobacco cards?

Thanks tbob for at least uploading the photos. Don't feel too bad the video couldn't seem to upload. Looks like a very special memory between you and your grandson. Now aren't you glad you made yourself wait those 15 years so you could share it with him? He sure won't forget it.

I can still remember the time in spring 1962 of getting a pack at a restaurant and pulling a Roger Maris. Fifty-two years ago. These things have a way of staying gently on your mind.

Maybe you didn't pull a star, but you got to relive something from when you were your grandson's age. And you thought enough of us to share it. Again, thanks pal.:) ---Brian Powell

I have gotten videos to upload on this site by putting them on photobucket and them linking them to here.

I'm on dial-up (yes there are places where you can't get broadband) so I won't even attempt spending 17 hours trying to download a 3 minute video.
Please just tell me what what was in there!

Around 1975 I walked down an alley on my way to the local grocery. Happened to glance at a trash dump behind the local dime store. Sitting there waiting to be burned was a box of 1963 Topps with 3-4 unopened packs. It took me about 30 seconds to open them and I was too stupid to save the box. It wasn't exactly a Black Swamp find. No Hofers for sure. I think the best card I got was the Senators team photo. Guys like Sammy Taylor and Wes Stock. Not exactly a haul, but it was fun opening them!!

You can get satellite internet anywhere. Well unless you live in a cave. :D

Tbob must've given up on the video

tbob 08-14-2014 10:36 PM

I did, I'm sorry. At least my grandson (who is going to end up with all my cards one of these years) had a great experience with his grandpa.
I hadn't even thought about it until Brian mentioned it but I was about the exact same age as my grandson when I was opening all my '62 packs in 1962. Wow!
The cards pulled were Taussig, Martin, Ortega, Morgan & Pappas.
