No Big Deal
Melvin Gordon broke LaDanian Tomlinson's 15 year-old single game FBS rushing record yesterday gaining 408 yards in just three quarters.
Even though I am living in Wisconsin, I find it difficult to gloat about Gordon. 408 yards is less than a quarter of a mile. The offensive line performed so well that Melvin was barely touched while running that quarter mile. Arm tackling Nebraska and the Badger O-line deserve most of the credit. I seriously doubt that any running back has been touched less while gaining 400+ yards regardless of how many games it took to get there. |

His stat line reminded me of a game that James Brooks (Auburn; Chargers) had while at Warner Robins High. Brooks rushed 13 times for 383 yards and six TDs, his team won 90-0 - and they played everyone.
Even after that, it took many more years before the area high school districts got re-structured. It was brutal 'til then. |
