Steven,

I got one in my collection that is complete in NM-MT condition and it took me a very long time to find it with the help of one friend who originally had it in his collection. They are very tough to find in my opinion. Best of luck!!!

Here is a front and back from a March (Legendary Auctions) 2012 auction. It went for $209 with buyer's premium.

You use to see them around more in 2011 in 2012, pretty simple design.

Fred,

This one is not mine but this is the way it would look with the original 1915 CJ cards inside. It's simply amazing and that is why I love this set!!!

Thanks for the post. One quick question - are these just blank pages with "hinges" or cuts in the album pages to allow someone to place a card in the album without actually adhering it to the page?

Fred,

Not sure why that album shows the cards held at each corner. My album pages are solid and you were supposed to glue each card to the album I believe. Maybe other 1915 CJ Collectors can chime in on this one. Check out the picture below. Andy

They were meant to be pasted it, that is why the backs are printed upside down- you glued the cards in at the time and could bend back the card from the bottom to correctly read the info on the back.
Here's a few images of a couple of them that I owned- between '05 and '11 I bought all 3 that came up, constantly upgrading. The best one now resides in Andy's collection, and while I couldn't call it mint it's probably one of the nicest ones out there.

Sorry for the slight hijack, but since we're talking about albums....

In contrast to the CJ album, the '49 Leaf album was die cut to tuck the cards into:

The '34 Goudey albums were designed to have cards pasted into them, but had a lot more info inside:

FWIW, I found the albums for each of these sets considerably harder to find in any condition than the cards.

Anthony,

Nice to hear from you again and thanks for the detailed explanation on the 15' CJ Album. I also like those other original albums that you have. I look at them as a piece of history and very nice to add to anyone card collection. :)

Great post Anthony thanks for sharing!

In the original (small) pic that was posted the card corners were difficult to see so I assumed there was some type of page hinge. I guess not.... Wow, they glued the cards into the album... I guess back then it was the thing to do... Thanks for the larger picture.

Were these albums only available in 1915?

rainier2004 12-14-2014 03:31 PM

Yup, only 1915 and you can read about them on the back of 1915s only.
