93 Topps Jeter Marlins - PSA 10?

3 Attachment(s)
As a Jeter fan every now and again I go through phases where I try to pick up some of his more interesting cards. I recently was able to get three copies the 1993 Topps Marlins Inaugural stamp card. Still have to get the Rockies.

I knew by the scans I received that the cards would be very sharp. When I got them in the mail I was very pleased with them. I only plan on keeping one of them and selling the other two. Do you think any of these have a shot at PSA 10? I normally don't play that game, but if this helps me get my money back quickly, then I'm all for it.

Psa 10

The PSA 10 "game" is a rough one. I have literally submitted over a thousand cards in my lifetime and have gotten zero 10s. Plenty of 9s that looked like 10s if you know what I mean.
A 10 quite frankly looks like a 9 and in some cases looks worse. You are "gambling" on the whims of an unknown grader and a mysterious system that most have not cracked.

Do they look like 10s? Sure.......
Will you get them back as 10s......most likely not

But if you have a bit of gambler in you then by all means hop aboard that train and find out for yourself. You never know.

Anything is possible in the TPG world.

Peace, Mike

PSA 10 hunt

I like most here have only had a few items come back PSA 10. This card weather PSA 9 or 10 sells for good money. Start with a room that you can control light only have one light source directly over where you will look at card. with a large magnifying lens 2 or 5 x look at card corners edges and surface for any (REALLY ANY) imperfections grain of sand against card left small indentation on surface etc. If you can find none on front OR back then you have a better than average chance to get a high grade and worth sending in IF you have enough cards to get the cheap monthly deal of 6 or 7 bucks a card. Just MHO Good luck

Let me guess....

Rob,

Most of my submissions are older cards (pre-1970). Let me guess on yours.......not older cards? ding ding ding...... :)

True. I am putting together 1997 and 1999 Topps PSA 10 sets for my kids birth years. I should have clarified. But these cards are from 1993. I would consider that modern. The main thing I have found that helps me, is the 40x lighted magnifying glass. I am sure there are plenty of cards that would grade 10 that I don't send in, but since I am taking a huge bath on these projects anyways, I need to make sure of a high percentage of 10's. The 40x helps me with that. If I was grading vintage, I am sure my 10 percentage would be closer to 10% or maybe even less.

I wasn't trying to cut on you, sorry if you took it that way.

I think you would have a better shot with regaining your money if you graded with BGS on these. That is just my opinion.

I think comparing 9.5 to 10 is not that fair.

Also basing it off two cards, where we nothing is know about when the cards were listed or who the seller was, is not enough statistical data in order to make and assumption.

For that time period of card BGS statistically has better sales than PSA on the same cards for the same grades. Why? Who knows. One company is not better than the other. It is the preference of the buyer.
