SOLD 1968 Topps Mantle #280 PSA-7
 

I remember having this card in the late 80s which was the prize of my collection. I remember going to a card show in Maryland and a guy pulled one from stack of cards that was in a rubber band and sold it to me for 35, of course raw and i believe probably would have graded a 6-7. My dad was really upset that i paid so much for cardboard. The mantles really jumped in the 80s and i know on becket it was a few hundred or something. I figured it would be worth thousands someday I kept it for 25 years or so and thens sold it with the rest of my 10 or so cards (68 maris a Marino rookie and other odds and ends ) in a group on ebay and after that sale i had zero cards. Got back into to it shortly thereafter.

Such memories.

A side note is i still know to this date that Mantle had 18 homers in the World Series because of that card which comes up in trivia from time to time.

I also remember by that card in the summer of 1978 in Maryland too...Edmundton Drive in flea market ...I paid 13 dollars for it... I had a job delivering the Baltimore Sun paper.... on a bike 120 Sunday papers and 50 evenings
When's the last time you seen a kid on a bike delivering newspapers ? I don't even get a paper delivered anymore ...buy it at the stationery ever once in a while
