When Sotheby’s sells an artwork, it offers a five-year guarantee of refund if the object proves to be a counterfeit – “a modern forgery intended to deceive”, as its terms specify.

That is a very long but great read.

May pull out some other quotes. I find it very interesting that Sotheby's actually bought the company of the foremost art examiner to protect themselves.

With a 5 year guarantee on their paintings it was a great move.
