Question about selling basketball rookies

I’ve been a member here for a decade now and have many great deals both selling and buying but always baseball. A friend of mine has a small lot of raw basketball cards that he has had for over 20 years and kind of forgot about until I asked him a few weeks back about them.

At the time he collected he was attempting to get the rookie card of the NBAs 50 greatest players that they put out in 2000. He was successful in getting 48 of the 50 before giving up because his career took him overseas and couldn’t continue.

The two he never got were the George Mikes and Michael Jordan.

About 10 years ago he needed some emergency cash and sold off most of the biggest ones. After that they went into a box in the closet only to reappear two weeks ago when I inquired.
Anyway, he is thinking about selling the remaining cards but has absolutely no interest in piecing them out on eBay and asked me for suggestions.

My question is as follows: is Net54 a good place to try and move a lot like this?

Like I said most are of the big ones are sold (ie, Chamberlain, Bird/ Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Alcindor etc) but does still have Dr. J and Maravich as well as other smaller names from the list.
He doesn’t need the money but is willing to sell as one lot. I’ve done some eBay research to see approx. value but prices are all over the place so it’s hard to say approx. value.

Any thoughts on if Net 54 is a good place to try?

Any help or tips are appreciated,

Drew

Graded? Ungraded? Beauties? Beaters? Post some scans, inquiring minds need to know! Love to see some pictures!

All raw. I would say close to vg vgex overall. I don’t have then with me but can get some photos tomorrow. There is some private interest in the Maravich but that is all that I know. The Dr J presents well but wouldn’t grade very high due to a wrinkle in the lower left corner.
I’m really just wondering if listing the, here is worth it in others opinions. My uneducated guess is the eBay sale price is somewhere just over 1k if the Maravich was included but I think he would rather give a bulk deal to a collector just to not have to piece meal it out.

I think you could sell them here as a group pretty easily. I know I’m intrigued to see a list at least.

I would send them in to one of the (lower end) auction houses and they could figure out the best way to sell them.

Ok. So thank you to all who answered here in this thread as well as PMed me. I will try to get an accurate list with some photos tomorrow. I guess I will list in one lot on the BST side but will update this thread once I do.

Just for some updated info both the Dr J and Maravich will be in the lot. Others from the top of my head include Parrish, McHale, I Thomas, Akeem, Pippen, Stockton, Drexler, Malone, Shaq, and more on that level. I’m thinking there are a total of 30-33 cards if my memory is correct.

Again thank you for the interest and please have some patients with me as I really am a total baseball guy and this is uncharted territory for me.
