Hat tip to Anson Whaley

I've never met the guy, and have no idea if he's even a Net 54 member, but for the past few years I've learned a ton from his research articles in Sports Collectors Daily and elsewhere. Just read a great piece on a set I know nothing about (1921 Self Developing Strip Cards). A guy who seems to contribute a great deal to the hobby in an understated low key way. Writes well and always finds interesting positive stuff to write about.

Nice to see articles about the hobby that don't always focus on crimes and lowlifes.

Agree. I always enjoy reading his pieces. Ironically, after reading his piece on the National, I realized I was standing next to him when he was reviewing some advertising cards he had not seen before. I just overheard a little of the conversation, but his enthusiasm was off the charts.

Anson is a huge asset to this hobby.

I met him and his wife at the National. Had a great conversation. He is a wealth of knowledge. I follow him on Twitter at https://twitter.com/prewarcards
He recently showed his T205, T206 and T207 sets.

Anson's articles are great. Exactly what the hobby needs.

In case you are unfamiliar, here is Anson's website:

https://prewarcards.com/

It is a great website that seemingly was made just for us Net54 nuts.

Anson is the best. Tons of knowledge and a true love of cards, and the more esoteric the better, which makes him a hell of an interesting guy to talk to!

Anson manages our Pittsburgh branch office.
We couldn’t be happier with his performance and willingness to share his vast knowledge.

That branch office (specializing in re-distribution and aggregation of real board assets) compliments our West Coast office perfectly.

His volume of writings , which are esoteric, witty and based on a deep passion for the hobby , is a welcome respite.

He’s far too humble to say it himself, but his site and blog and Twitter feeds are the best in the business.

Keep up the good work, Cap!

I suggest checking out the article. Images of the cards from this new discovery are pictured as well. The cards all have great photos of the players, and the black backgrounds really make them look incredibly distinctive.

It is a bit nerve-wracking to log on here and see a post with your name but, wow, so many kind words. Thank you to Steve, who started this thread and thank you all very much for the compliments.

Some of you I know and some not so much. But appreciate the nice words and thanks for checking out the blog. It is not a moneymaker for me by any means and I do it purely out of the love of the cards. Glad to know people are reading it --

I read every post and learn every time. Thank you for your efforts.

Echo what everyone says above. I learn something with every one of his posts.

Anson is an absolute asset to the hobby. That's saying a lot coming from me, since our alma maters are serious rivals! LOL

He is also a really good dude, both in sharing his knowledge and time. I can't count the number of times I've messaged him with a question and he's always gotten back to me within a few hours.

Hoping I can finally meet him at the National in 2023.

Was lucky enough to have lunch with Anson and his lovely wife at the National. He’s the real deal. Genuine, humble, and of course ridiculous generous with his knowledge of old cardboard.
