c1900 Pencil Box - Actual Player or Generic
 

Is this an actual player, if so any ideas, or just a generic drawing a baseball player?

No name or letting on their uniforms and looks to be a little older, as mentioned in the title c1890's, but the one at LOTG looks more like c1900's.

I used to own one of these, possibly even the one shown in the LOG auction. There is an "N Y" on the jersey, but I don't believe it was meant to depict any particular player; and you are right in that it is probably early 1900's as opposed to 19th century.

Generic....

There are 3-4 other variations, all with generic game scene images. The one on eBay realized a better than normal price. I used to own that one, and got about half that amount for it. Strong memorabilia market right now.
