That being said, I think the BST auctions would be better off with a 10-min, extended bidding rule. Obviously, it’s all up to the seller to make their own rules, but without being able to place a “max bid,” I think it’s worth considering when listing something. Just my thoughts…and probably my new auction rule when I list something again.

10-minute rule
Basically, any time a bid is placed, the auction is reset for ten minutes. Is super annoying, when auction houses do it until 5AM, but it’s for guys who get outbid on lot A at 3AM, and can now use that money to bid on Lot B. eBay works on the “max bid” principle, so even if somebody bids with one second left, you can still win with your max bid. The BST allows sellers to set their own rules, so do what you want. But if I waited until one second left, then outbid Wazoo, it doesn’t seem fair to him, and it costs you money. That’s why I think it would work well here. I always like some last minute bidding frenzy…
That being said, I don’t think you should necessarily change your rules mid-stream. I’m not going to bid in the last minute, because I think it sort of goes against the goodwill that exists on this board. It’s just food for thought, going forward…that’s all. Cheers, Geno |

Ahh…visiting my parents, and missed the cutoff. My bid would have been higher, so it leads me to believe that the 10 minute rule is the way to go with BST. Sniping on BST costs the seller, and hurts the guys who can’t lurk all night long.
