How Rare Is This Satchel Paige Signed Card?

2 Attachment(s)
Hey all! I have a 1976 Tulsa Oilers Goofs Satchel Paige signed card. I know it was issued signed and the unsigned one is tougher, but how rare is the signed version? Is it worth getting authenticated? Would the sale price be more if it is than not? This is my dad's card and he want to sell it so I need a ballpark idea of how much to ask and if to get graded.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony

I think he signed 500 so they are not extremely rare but still it is Satchel Paige on a baseball card. If I remember correctly, they sell in the $350 or so range when authenticated and obviously some amount less unauthenticated. With the $75 fee and a likely wait time, not sure if worth the authentication cost or not. Throw out a number your dad can live with and you just might sell it here.

Randy, thanks. I am able to get it authenticated by JSA next weekend at a show here so unless someone blows my doors off with an offer I will probably go ahead and get it authenticated. These days, it doesn't hurt to entomb valuable cards (unless I do it and then it's worth less!).

Get it authenticated and slabbed. Especially since there was a non-autographed version of the card released.

That is a fun set and I do like that when you find one you are almost certainly looking at an authentic autograph of Paige, there was a Daffy Dean that was also featured in the set and like the Paige was pretty much exclusively autographed. Do you have the rest of the set?

They only made a limited number of them I have the full set in my collection but were I missing that set I would be very interested. There was a set that sold in 2018/2019 for $500-600 if I remember correctly, and I remember thinking that was a good deal at the time for the buyer

Authentication always helps sell something even if you know it is authentic. There is still a pretty long wait for the letter to arrive through the mail even if authenticated at shows. I am waiting for two letters from almost two months ago. Typically, one month is the time frame but they seem to be further behind at present. May still be catching up from the National. Good luck with it.
