Special Pick Up
2 Attachment(s)
I just picked this up from a good friend and fellow board member, MattyC. Very excited about this one. The picture may not show it well, but this is a unique type 1 rookie era photo of Micket Mantle, with a rookie era signature on it, that happens to be personalized "To Jesse."
I had joked with Matt a while back that if he ever saw anything signed by Mantle to Jesse to please let me know, and I would of course do the same. I never expected to actually find one available for sale. Thank you Matt! Added a better shot of the inscription. |
That's awesome!

Cool
Looks early…like a high school senior photo. Happy for you!
|
Thanks everyone yea senior photo makes sense. I believe the Yankees signed him right after he graduated.
I just knew when I saw that inscription I had to have it. |
Incredible! Congratulations on the pickup!

Off the charts piece of baseball memorabilia.

Jesse that's fantastic, Congrats!
|
Nice pickup Jesse. Nice early mantle signature. Congratulations
|
Not sure I've ever notice Mick's forearms before in his cards. They were jacked! Looks like Popeye.
|
Beautiful pickup! Congratulations.
For as much as I love Mickey's "Show Signature" that he developed towards the end of his career, and his beginning of the circuit, I'm a sucker for his early signature. |
This is fantastic. Congratulations.

Appreciate all the kind words. I thought this piece was pretty unique even without the inscription. But with that factored in and given that I'm a Mantle collector, this was a once in a lifetime kind of opportunity. |
That's a great photo.
|
Looks like he's ready for Al's Diner in Happy Days in that photo!
In all seriousness, that is a fantastic pickup! Congrats! |
Congrats. A great pickup to make...

Back in the mid 60s I used to caddy at White Beeches Country Club in Haworth, NJ. Yogi Berra was a member and he used to bring his Yankee teammates that lived nearby: Eddie Lopat, Bill Skowron, and Mickey Mantle, who lived in Closter for a time. High school kids like me didn't get to caddy for the rich and famous, but we got up close and personal with the Yankees when they stopped by. Mantle's forearms were, indeed, impressive. Somewhere around I've got a White Beeches scorecard with Yankee autographs on it. I don't remember exactly, but I probably got yelled at by the caddy master for bothering them. Totally worth it! :D Jesse: That's an awesome pickup! |
