Winners Announced - Brockelman Auction contest w/vintage card prizes..ended March 4th

8 Attachment(s)
The Brockelman Auction contest is back again for the auction that ends this Saturday, and you have the chance to score some vintage cards as seen in the scans at the bottom of this post.

The auction: http://www.brockelmanauctions.com/catalog.aspx

This time the contest has a series of have/have not consigned questions. Let's jump right into those questions you will need to answer:

Question 1 - Grover Cleveland (Pete) Alexander, HOF pitcher extraordinaire, is identified by name in the title of 5 different lots in the auction. What is the lot # of the one I consigned?

Question 2 - Which lot that has W514 card(s) in it did I consign (W514 lot numbers range from 200 to 247).

Question 3 - When viewing the auction on the website, you have the option to change the setting to view 100 auction lots per page. Thus when doing so there are 8 pages, as seen in the ranges below:

1-100, 101-200, 201-300, 301-400, 401-500, 501-600, 601-700, 701-741

Identify which of the above auction lot ranges that I DID NOT consign anything. To make things just slightly easier, I did not consign anything in the 701-741 lot number range, so don't even think of making this your answer, because you will not get credit for answering correctly.

Question 4 - Which of these vintage card groups did I consign: Lot # 65, 89, 103, 105, 129.

Question 5 - Which of these lots that have "Joe" in the title I DID NOT consign: Lot # 70, 91, 117, 214.

Question 6 - Which of these graded cards did I consign: Lot # 100, 134, 148, 149, 190.

Your goal is to answer the above 6 questions more correctly than your fellow Net54'ers. In the case of a tie, the first guesser is the top winner.

An example of the format of what your 6 answers should look like is as follows (the below answers would get you a big fat ZERO correct):

1) 202
2) 923
3) 801-900
4) 151
5) 44
6) 376

The prizes are as follows: The top guesser gets his choice of 1 card from the first four scans seen below (back and front images of HOF player cards), and 3 cards from the following four scans (non-HOF players), or instead can choose two HOF cards (one PreWW2, the other Postwar). The runner up will get 1 card from the HOF'er group and 1 card from the non-HOF group, after the top guesser has made his choices.

You are allowed two total guesses, with no edits. All guesses need to be posted by 8pm EST on Saturday, March 4th, the same night that the auction closes. Good Luck!

Brian, this is too much like work, and I'm fully retired! :p But, I do wish for your consignments to do well. And, I do look forward to your clever comeback!

Punch the clock, do the work, get in line for a possible promotion (vintage card bonuses for those that perform the best).

Contest like you deserve it! And maybe the boss will notice.

Oh wow - thanks because of this post I went back and was looking over the auction again and found a card I’ve been loving for for a long time. I wouldn’t have ever got a bid placed if not for your contest, Thanks

Definitely one of the main reasons for these contests...it is always a fine thing to remind the good folks of Net54 that there is a world of vintage up for grabs in these auctions. And personally it is fun to distribute some of my rundown old stuff upon those who appreciate it.

Also...contest ends 8pm EST tomorrow. Get your two sets of guesses in!

Many thanks to Brian for running his contests for my auction! For those bidding or wanting to bid, there are still four hours of initial bidding, before each lot ends individually starting at 10:00 pm CST

I agree! I end the contest hours before the auction initial closing time so as to not interfere with the whole bidding thing...so bid as if shark in a feeding frenzy!

RCMcKenzie 03-04-2023 09:20 PM

Hi, I have a few bids in. Are we in lot by lot, or is the auction still open to bid in all lots?

brianp-beme 03-04-2023 09:23 PM

Best to ask on the other Brockelman thread, as this one is just the contest I hold that involves the auction, but I am not affiliated with Brockelman Auctions.

Brian

sb1 03-04-2023 09:36 PM

Auction clock has been corrected, initial bidding ended at 10:30 CST and now in extended bidding.

RCMcKenzie 03-04-2023 09:38 PM

Brian and Scott, I see the other thread now and will post over there. Thanks.

brianp-beme 03-05-2023 10:58 AM

Great auction and I hope a fun/different contest for those who participated. Here are the two winning contestants, who each guessed the same amount correctly, but the top winner did so earlier:

Top Winner - jcarroll84

Runner Up - edjs

I will contact the top winner shortly, and when they get back to me with what cards they will like, I will then contact the runner up.

Thanks again, and until next time...

Brian

mullinsm 03-07-2023 03:42 PM

Thanks!

Thanks Brian, that was fun!

brianp-beme 03-07-2023 04:35 PM

No problem, maybe next time you end up on top (or perhaps runner-up). Thanks again to all that participated, and until that future time when I think up yet another way to pester you all into scrambling all over the next Brockelman Auction...

Brian

jcarroll84 03-13-2023 01:58 PM

Hi Brian, I received my cards today! Thanks again for the great contest!

edjs 03-13-2023 02:38 PM

It’s always fun to scramble all over auctions. Thanks again.

This time around you and John were the darn-tootin' best auction scramblers around. Plenty of time for folks to elevate the very specific skillset required to conquer the contest that tops all Brockelman Auction contests.
