Vintage cards with fake signatures...show off yours!

I am not a signature guy, but I thought I would show off this 1940 Play Ball of Bobby Doerr that has a non-authentic signature. It originated from the Uncle Jimmy collection that was spread out over several auctions a couple of years ago. It is a trimmed authentic card that is quite sharp otherwise, besides the signature...not all of his autograph requests came back with legit signatures.

Anyone else have something similiar to share? I know it is a narrow collecting field, but I imagine some folks out there have something to show off.

Was pretty proud of this beauty, came in a huge group of signed exhibit cards which included a legitimate Gehrig and many others, and I bought this one to have a sample from the cool lot. Years ago. Been selling off some non-core items so went to get this authenticated and slabbed…turns out its secretarial. Pretty bold auto for a secretary to plaster on it! Still cool…it’s in Clean Sweep ending tonight if anyone wants it!

I wrote to and met Mr. Doerr a few times in the 1980s. I've never seen a "fake" sig. Honestly amazing! It might be worth more since it is so rare! ;)

Thanks for sharing!

How about a printed one and a real one on the same card?

A Fake Doerr signature is probably worth more than a authentic one anyways - Dude was a signing machine, the Sharpie company probably took a hit to their bottom line when he passed

I was told by someone that it isn't authentic since Red Faber's wife was signing these for him, but PSA surely has authenticated many autos of his that look just like mine. In either case, it is in my not sure what to do with but collect dust pile. :D

Not sure what a real Frisch signature looks like, but I think Frankie should adopt this style from now on out...very ornate!

A smart man recently told me "Great things can happen with an inexperienced grader/authenticator". I agreed.

The one thing Pawn Stars has taught me with the innumerable Steve Grad appearances is: if I look at a couple exemplars that match on my iPad in a minute or so and also stare closely with a magnifying glass for "live ink"...it's real. :D

A friend has this. He is aware the signature is no good.

Nice card. And if not mistaken, it looks like Ty indeed signed it "No Good".

There's seems to be a lot of cards of Willie Mays out there with fake signatures.

Nice T206 Marquard example...I believe in shim-shammery world this card is identified as 'Forged in Steal'.

I won't steal his thunder and will let him post if he wants to, but I know a member here with a 1933 Goudey #144 with a fake Babe Ruth signature on it.

I remember seeing that one before, and I believe I have seen a 1941 Play Ball of Joe DiMaggio as well.

There's an authentic '41 Play Ball inexplicably signed "Doe JiMaggio". It's assuredly Joe's writing. What was to blame? A sudden attack of dyslexia which went away as quickly as it came? He was clearly distracted. Signed in blue Sharpie, so he was not young when it was signed.

Yup and a Gehrig via Uncle Jimmy. I will post it.

I have an enhanced authentic Gehrig too via Uncle Jimmy.
