Anyone else have “missing/lost” cards that you KNOW are here somewhere??

I saw a post here earlier this week from a lucky/happy member who finally found a long lost card (congrats, btw!) and it just reminded me about several cards that I am just sure MUST be here somewhere!

Before I got back into the hobby full throttle several years ago, I picked up cards very randomly here and there and am quite sure that I have a Rose Rookie, a ‘56 Jackie Robinson, and a 1979-80 (or is it 80-81?) full set of basketball cards with the tri-panel bird and magic RC’s.

In my mind, there is a small box somewhere in my house where these treasures are just waiting for me to rediscover them! (Or I sold or traded them and just don’t recall - I put the odds at 49% that they are still here!)

It got me wondering - am I the only one here who has “lost” or misplaced any key cards and frets regularly about where the hell they are??

You aren't alone, I assure you. My most difficult finds were raw cards, in penney sleeves, wedged onto/into the back of a slabbed card.

Then, one time I found an E253 in my dogs mouth (only the holder was hurt).

I have this problem all the time. I email with a fellow member off and on. He will tell me he is looking for a card and I will tell him I have one I would sell/trade if I can find it. Sometimes I find it easily but usually I give up looking and months/years later I will find the card(s) while looking through piles/boxes of cards.

My biggest one is back in like 1998 I got a picture taken with Ernie Harwell and had it blown up to 8x12 and the next time the Tigers were in town he signed it for me. There's no place it could possibly be besides my dad's house, but I've looked for it a bunch of times in the last 25 years and haven't found it.
