Beckett Autograph Authentication quick review

has anyone ever used this 24-48 hour service from Beckett...and if so, how did you find the service?

I don't do a lot with autographs and was curious if folks here know the current group of authenticators there.

thanks

it seems that Beckett is the only authenticator that will look at any item...I think PSA has a similar service but only accepts ebay or auction links...you can't just submit any item you might have. Maybe I have that wrong

You are correct. Beckett will give an opinion on a clear picture of an item whether in an auction or not. PSA requires an auction link.

You never know who looks at the autograph with either company.

Probably on higher dollar items like Ruth or Gehrig their top guys probably look at them before an opinion is rendered but that is just a guess.

Steve Grad is the lead guy with Larry Studebaker signing the majority of the LOAs so he probably does a lot of the online opinions as well but I do not know that for sure.

I occasionally use the service for high end autographs if I am on the fence. They usually opine "Not likely to pass full authentication" on the ones I check which for $10 gives me an additional reason to pass.

There is no guarantee that the item will pass full authentication even if it passes the "Quick Opinion" but they typically do.

thank you. I pulled the trigger. Got the "unable to render an opinion" line along with an additional note saying they "would likely need to see this in our hands to render a result" Refunded the $10. no harm no foul

Just post a picture of the autograph here. There are many autograph experts on this forum. It won't cost anything.
