Red Schoendienst Need list. Rare issues needed!

Decided to remake this thread and move it to the 1950s section as I'm essentially done with 40s releases. Maybe get some new eyes on it.

Anything minor leagues.

1949 Bowman "Slate" Variation

Any 1950s Salesman Samples

1950 Dominican Republic Album Card

1950 r423 Purple, Blue

1950-56 J.J.K Copy-Art Post Card

1952 star cal type 3

1952-54 Dixie lid backs I don't have

1952-1954 red man with tab (only looking for high grade examples please)

1954 Hunters Wieners (with tabs, possibly
other years for upgrades as well)

1954 Wilson Franks Blank Back

Pre 1960 team issues I don't have. (Mainly 1956.)

Pm10s and other period pinbacks

Gumball Charms

Anything obscure

Original photos

Always looking to find high grade base cards graded by sgc for upgrades as well.

Please message me if you have anything!

Continuing my additions

Latest pick up came in today, a 1950 r423 green back. Never seen another, and none have ever been graded. Got it from a Canadian seller, I wonder if the green/blue backs are a Canadian release.

The R423 colors are red/orange, blue, purple, green. I was able to get SGC to start using these colors on their slabs as I have one of each for another player. We know there are 4 distinct colors from the advertisement.

Oh very cool. Hadn't known this existed. If it wasn't for that I'd have thought blue and purple were the same. Another toughy to add to the list.

Check those oddball boxes and original photos. Would love to add something!

Lucas00 02-24-2024 03:49 PM

Up. Haven't gotten a new piece since the green back

Lucas00 03-02-2024 06:45 AM

Any type hoarders with something I don't have?

Lucas00 03-18-2024 04:11 PM

Added the '49 slate to my need list. Thanks Ted.

Lucas00 05-30-2024 06:56 PM

Forgot to post this pickup, was finally able to grab the Gould statue about a month or so ago. Still looking for high grade sgc base and a few more rare ones. Photos, unique memorabilia etc. Please pm me!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0cc74d8c38.jpg

Lucas00 06-25-2024 02:12 PM

Picked up Reds Preferred products! Has a small coffee stain or something but still happy to get this tough one.

Always looking to upgrade sgc cards, and have lots that I need to. Look through those Sgc stacks of cards and set builds for me. And those stacks of photos! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0717d08321.jpg

Who has something for me 😀?

Lucas00 09-10-2024 11:29 AM

Looking.

Lucas00 10-03-2024 01:10 PM

Type 2 star cal acquired. No envelope, but I may buy a common player or try to find an empty one. Or I'll just keep it like this, I do like seeing the back. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f9911f1973.jpg

1956 I know for sure I need. I'm really trying to get any "variation" I don't have whether that's a different color stamp, name signed as Red/Al on early 50s ones. I'm really open to seeing any you have. Thanks! I will pm you my email

Lucas00 10-28-2024 08:16 PM

Any salesman samples? I don't have a single one of Red. Also, if you see this message and know what years Red has samples available of I would appreciate it!

Looking for cool stuff

Somebody has to have one of these 🤔.

Lucas00 03-09-2025 01:36 AM

Printer scraps, wrong backs, severe errors. I'm looking for anything cool. I'm buying it all. If you have something cool, and want something even cooler I'll trade you. If you are a collector and have lots of oddball stuff, take a look for me. Thanks

Lucas00 04-05-2025 09:17 PM

Still looking for many rare items. Here is a 1956 pm15 extra I have that I would trade or sell. From my experience Red is the toughest pin in the set.

Show me what ya got! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...04f51c0bf3.jpg

My most recent addition courtesy of N54 member Jay Wolt, who graciously sent it to me free of charge. Thank you for your kindness Jay this is a fabulous type 1.

Do you have an example of a Wilson Franks blank back? I have never seen one in 20 years of collecting that issue.

If you find any 54 or 55 Hunters Wieners of any player I would be interested.

Thanks

Dan, the 54 Wilson Frank blank backs are actually more simple than you may think. They are simply hand cut from the display poster that didn't print anything on the backs of the cards. So every card is possible with a blank back. I've seen 1 or 2 blank backs so at least 1 display was cut up (not sure if it was cut in modern day or not) but for obvious reasons they're extremely rare. I'd say probably 5 displays exist? So theoretically 5 of each card exists as a blank back.

Unfortunately I don't have any extra hunters, sorry.

Here are the photos I saved. Should've bought them all in hindsight.

Very interesting, thanks for the pictures! Those really do appear to be true blank backs which I haven't seen before. The display poster that you mention was a uncut sheet that was pasted to a thicker piece of cardboard and used a standup. Many of these were cut up and they can be found if one is looking for them and patient. I have seen nothing to suggest that the sheets used for the display pieces are blank backed, but the point is moot as they are securely affixed to the cardboard.

Since this is the first I have heard of these blank backed cards/sheets I would say they are significantly rarer than the cards cut from the display and possibly unique.

I'm not sure, I think there's a good chance the displays are blank back while the uncut sheets are regular back. I would assume the displays were early production pieces so it would make sense, especially how they are hand cut as well. But of course I can't prove that. They very well could be unique as you say and were scraps or defective saves of some kind.

Sorry the pictures aren’t great, but it should give some examples of what I am basing my theories on.

The difference in thickness can be shown between Pafko cut from a display and the Campy a regular issued card. The top of the sheet in the display should show that it is pasted to the cardboard piece.

Would it be possible to separate the display card from the backing? Not saying to do that, just wondering if it's possible

No, it is securely affixed and would destroy the back of the card. I can't even see a crack to start to run a knife through if I wanted to separate the card from the backing cardboard.

Got it, my hunch definitely is wrong then.

Got Reds 1957 spic and span back from SGC. And from my experience with insane oversized grades (Mostly them being severely undergraded) I'm pretty happy here. I think 3.5 is a fair grade.
