SGC or PSA for high value/rare cards?

I'd welcome and value some experienced advice from collectors here who have submitted very high value and rare cards ($50K and up) for grading from SGC or PSA.

My questions are:

- how are the submissions completed safely and securely? I would not put these cards in the mail, UPS or Fed Ex.

- I have messages into both companies about how the card security is ensured even once accepted at the company for grading. Any experience from collectors here?

- From a value standpoint, is there any hard evidence that PSA or SGC generates more value for cards that are exceptionally rare? I know there is a perception (and perhaps accurately) that PSA will generate higher sales value over SGC. But does that stand true for very high value cards also?

I am headed to the national later this week (don't worry - I am NOT bringing these cards with me!) to discuss these questions with reps from both SGC and PSA - but I appreciate hearing from members here ahead of the "sales pitch" i expect to get from the reps.

Thanks all

Jeff

Probably would help to have more details.

For example is it low grade pre-war rare?

Or is it high-grade post-war rare?

Or something else entirely?

Not sure why you wouldn't take the cards with you if you're concerned about mailing them. Make a decision, get them graded on site, take them home.

Yeah, 3-hour turn around at the National with PSA for something of that value. Barely leaves your possession, sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

PSA for rare prewar gets you more $$ if you go to sell

How many threads before we learn the identity of these mystery cards?

Agreed with this.
I'd take them with and grade while there.

This is often not true in today's grading landscape where PSA under grades your cards and SGC does not.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions - yes, these cards belong to a family friend. Just helping to do some homework before recommending where and how to grade.

I appreciate the suggestions, all. See you in Cleveland

If you find a reputable auction house they will help you with all of this.

I would go with PSA for this major reason when it comes to generating the most value, the Registry and Pop specifically if the cards are in high end shape with a low pop.
