AJ Reach Plate
 

ISO any info on this AJ Reach plate.

My buddy Mike Hoevet (RIP) had one of these plates. Rumor has it that the base runner was called out, and he lost his head over the call. :rolleyes:

Seriously I know nothing about this piece, other than it appears to be circa 1930s-40s, and is a nifty little advertising vehicle for Reach Sporting Goods. A nice display item that tends to turn up about 3-4 times per year on ebay and elsewhere. If memory serves, they typically sell for $125 - $150.

I have one but it does not have an advertiser on it. I have also seen the same image on a guitar case at Brimfield. The plates are much cheaper than what the guitar case was offered at! I think I got my plate for 50-75 dollars. I like yours with the Reach advertisement.

Just me, but I think with the Reach ad and the store back the value might be somewhat higher than suggested, more in the $200-$300 range. If I had this at shows I would test the waters at the higher end and I suspect it would move pretty quickly. Very nice piece.

Outstanding item just not a big value item, just harder to find in nice condition - have had similar ones myself and always paid in the $200 range. Stuff like this is getting lost in cards, so todays value is not what it was say 15 years ago. I still like it in the 300.00-500.00 range just not many people paying that right now. Cool piece! the Reach ad makes difference on price (Alan hope you are well too!)
