Cricut Vinyl Maker Questions
I've got questions about cricut vinyl and the maker.
I'm starting a new art project. It's a 24x48 spray paint mural. Last time I worked with spray paint, the stencil I used had bleeding issues, and I didn't get the crisp look I wanted. You can see my stencil issues with Walter Johnson's face. So does anyone have experience with cricut stencils? I need to make a couple pine tree stencils. Thanks in advance. Hi Tim - You could look into airbrush Masking Film/Frisket instead of vinyl if you're using it for masking. It's adhesive (but very easy to remove) so you won't get overspray under the edges. And it's semi-transparent so you can see where you need to cut relative to what's around it. Comes in several different widths and roll sizes. It's available from Amazon from several vendors.

edit: watching videos on YouTube, it seemed to work just fine through a cricut. Any brand you prefer? Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk |
I haven't airbrushed in years so no particular brand recommendation but I used to prefer it for finer airbrush work because it was thinner to cut and easier to work with compared to thicker products made for general or larger-scale stenciling.
Liquid frisket is another option - you brush it on to create the detail of the shape you want to stencil and let it dry. Then paint and remove it. Peels right up. |
