Kaite Ledecky another world record

Age 26 and speeding up, not slowing down. Since the age of 11 she has lost at this distance exactly once.

Arguably, the best female athlete ever.

I'd second that assessment. It's an incredible record in a sport with massive developed country participation.

There isn't even anyone else in the conversation at this point.

Not much. This one is probably only high double digits. No Caitlin Clark, she.

Maybe time for me to pick up one of her cards...

It's so hard to compare across sports and eras.
Today there are so many world class meets for most sports the number of wins seems less of a big deal.
The lengthy time with world records and wins is impressive.

From a different sport, and an era with fewer opportunities

World is full of amazing athletes who will never have any broad interest in the collecting world.

For a race that long, to have THREE swimmers that close the whole way was incredible.
